Vernon A. Watt

Vernon A. Watt

January 14, 1932~January 01, 2026

Today we gather to honor and remember Vernon Alston Watt, a man whose life spanned generations and whose legacy lives on through the love he gave so freely.

Vernon was born on January 14, 1932, and he left this world on January 1, 2026—just days before his birthday, as if he quietly chose to close the chapter with grace and dignity, on his own terms.

He was the proud father of one daughter, Suzette Ann Costanzo, and he took that role seriously. Vernon was a supportive, steady, and loving father—one who believed in showing up, standing firm, and offering guidance with both wisdom and humor. He raised his daughter to be strong, independent, and resilient, and he took pride in the person she became.

If Vernon was a great father, he was an even better grandfather. He was immensely proud of his grandchildren: Kayla Symone Costanzo and Anthony Alston Costanzo. He celebrated their achievements, cheered them on, and made sure they knew how deeply loved they were. Nothing lit him up more than talking about his grandchildren—their milestones, their talents, and their future.

He also was ever so proud of his nieces and nephews Carlene Earl, Opal Watt, Brent Allen, Paul Salkey, Michelle Salkey, and Peter Watt; all that he loved ever so much. He followed their lives closely, celebrated their achievements quietly but proudly, and spoke of them with a smile that said everything. He may not have bragged loudly, but his pride was unmistakable.

Vernon was a hardworking man with a long career at Ft. Lauderdale International Airport. He understood the value of effort and perseverance. He had a wonderful sense of humor, one that could lighten a room and bring smiles even in difficult moments. He worked hard, laughed often, and believed that life should be lived with both purpose and joy.

His faith was important to him. He loved his church and found comfort, community, and strength there. Over the years, he also developed a deep appreciation for music, history and politics, enjoying thoughtful conversation and spirited discussion—always engaged, always curious, always informed.

Most of all, Vernon was a man who loved his family deeply and without condition. His presence was steady, his pride unmistakable, and his love enduring.

While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate his life—a life well lived, full of laughter, hard work, faith, and devotion to family. His lessons, values, and love will continue to guide those he leaves behind.

Dad, Grandpa, Vernon—you will be missed more than words can express, but your legacy lives on in every life you touched. We will miss his calm voice, his quiet humor, his wisdom, and the steady way he showed up for those he loved. But his legacy lives on—in his daughter, his grandchildren, his great grandchildren and in the values he passed down.
