Anthony affectionately known as a Jerry was born September 26, 1955, to the Dorothy L. Jones Allen and Ben Jones Sr. in Camilla, Georgia. At an early age Anthony began a walk with the Lord, symbolized by a baptism in Miami, Florida. Anthony touched many lives with his kindness, generosity, and vibrant spirit. He was a beloved uncle to countless nieces, nephews and neighborhood kids. He received his early education in The Miami-Dade County School System, graduated from Miami Jackson Senior High, Class of 1974. After graduating high school, Anthony enlisted in the U.S. Army (1974) where his tour of duty was in Fort Hood, Texas in Co E 8th Engineer Battalion 1st Calvary Division; as a Asphalt paving foreman. After serving his country, Anthony showcased his skills working for various construction companies in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He later moved to Rocky Mount, North Carolina where he retired. Anthony had a profound impact and always possessed a rare gift for connecting with people every where he went. In the Rocky Mount community he was known as a self taught Barber; who devoted his time cutting hair for the neighborhood kids, and friends. After a short illness Anthony passed away peacefully at ECU Health Hospice Care in Greenville, North Carolina. Anthony can be best describes as a gentle soul with a heart of gold. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched. His unwavering faith in God was central to his life’s journey, a path that began as a child. Throughout his entire life, he held steadfast belief in the Lord.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy L. Jones Allen and Ben Jones Sr.; sisters: Brenda J. Johnson and infant sister, Dorothy.
Anthony’s favorite verse in the Bible was Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
