July 06, 1945~April 22, 2026

Gerard James Tollefsen, known to all as Jerry, passed away on April 22, 2026, in Pembroke Pines, Florida, at the age of 80. He was born on July 6, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York.

Jerry spent the first 27 years of his life in New York before making Florida his home, where he built a life defined by service, leadership, and deep devotion to his family.

He served his country in the United States Army as a Paratrooper during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Jerry dedicated nearly three decades to public service as a Miami Beach Police Officer, from 1973 until 2001 and rising to the rank of Major. After retiring from law enforcement, he continued his professional career in the private sector with Kent Security, where he served as President of the Government Division until his retirement in 2025.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Jayne; his sons, Gerard and Keith; his cherished grandsons, Eric and Dominick; his sisters MaryLouise and Karen; and his brothers, Andy and Eric. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a deeply loving grandfather.

Jerry found his greatest joy in time spent with family and friends. He loved being out on his boat, “Jayne’s Addiction,” sharing laughs and making memories. He enjoyed a cold Miller Lite in good company, traveling the world with his wife and friends, and spending treasured time on Marco Island with his family. He liked golf—though, as he often joked, the feeling wasn’t mutual. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandsons, moments that will be forever cherished.

Jerry will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, strength, and unwavering support for those he loved. He was the greatest husband, father, and grandfather, and his presence brought comfort and joy to everyone around him.

He will be missed more than words can ever describe, but his legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
