In Loving Memory of

Linda Alaine “Lyn” Parks

September 13, 1953 – June 25, 2026

With heavy hearts and immeasurable love, we celebrate the life of Linda Alaine “Lyn” Parks, who peacefully departed this life on June 25, 2026, at the age of 72.

Born on September 13, 1953, in Miami, Florida, Linda was raised in the Liberty City community near Allapattah Elementary and Middle School. Even from a young age, those who knew her remember a quiet yet athletic young woman whose confidence and popularity were matched only by her strong convictions. One of her favorite stories from childhood involved sneaking over with her siblings to peek into parties hosted by none other than their famous neighbor, Muhammad Ali—a memory she loved sharing with laughter throughout her life.

Linda attended Miami Jackson Senior High School before continuing her education at Grambling State University, a place that forever held a special place in her heart. During her time at Grambling, she helped found what would become one of the university’s most recognized and celebrated dance teams. Those college memories remained some of her favorites, and she never tired of telling the stories that made everyone around her laugh.

Throughout her professional life, Linda dedicated more than two decades to serving others through healthcare administration and clerical support. Her career included positions with Jackson Memorial Hospital, Broward General Hospital, Westside Regional Hospital, Parallon, the Florida Department of Children and Families, and Everglades Correctional Institution. Most notably, she spent many years working in Patient Access, where her reliability, professionalism, and welcoming personality left lasting impressions on both colleagues and patients alike.

While Linda built a respected career, those who truly knew her understood that her greatest gift was the way she made people feel.

She possessed a beautiful contradiction—a tough exterior that protected a heart overflowing with generosity. Linda believed in standing firmly in her convictions and remaining true to herself, regardless of the circumstances. She was the kind of person who would quietly give her last to someone in need without expecting anything in return.

To her daughter, friends, nieces, nephews, and countless others, Linda was far more than family. She became a second mother to anyone fortunate enough to cross her path. If you entered her home, you became one of her own. She welcomed everyone with warmth, sincerity, and a smile that could instantly put others at ease. Her kindness created family wherever she went.

Linda loved life.

She loved dancing, music, football, movies, relaxing at the beach, and spending time surrounded by the people she loved most. She was an unwavering Green Bay Packers fan and rarely missed watching her favorite television shows, including NCIS, Chicago P.D., 9-1-1, and her beloved Korean dramas.

Her playlists often featured artists such as Earth, Wind & Fire, LTD, and Phyllis Hyman. She enjoyed seafood—especially peel-and-eat shrimp—and appreciated a good glass of wine or whiskey while enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Her favorite colors were blue and silver, and she admired the beauty of roses and lilies.

Wherever there was music, Linda could usually be found dancing. She had an infectious spirit that brought energy into every room she entered. People often said a party wasn’t complete until Linda arrived. Her smile, her laughter, and her joyful presence became some of the many things people will forever remember about her.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel Mary Johnson and Artis Parks, and by three of her siblings, Michael Parks, Grace Parks, and Erma Albury.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughter, Shayla Parks; her sisters, Maxine Pollock and Yolanda Sweetwine; her nieces and nephews, Nathan Pollock, Sabrina Lawton, Stephanie Doctor, Shay Pollock, Angela Albury, and Tonya Albury; her cousin, Karen Joseph; countless extended family members; lifelong friends; former coworkers; and the many individuals who proudly considered her family by choice rather than by blood.

Linda’s greatest legacy is not found in titles or accomplishments but in the countless lives she touched through her generosity, resilience, humor, and unwavering willingness to love others. She taught those around her to stand tall in their convictions, to remain true to themselves, and perhaps most importantly, to dance whenever the music plays.

Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her laughter echoes in our memories, her smile lives within our hearts, and her love continues through everyone blessed enough to have known her.

Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever dancing.
