In Loving Memory of Michael Allen Parks

Michael Parks peacefully departed this life on June 20, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on November 28, 1956, in Miami, Florida, Michael was the only son of Artis and Ethel Parks and one of six children.

Michael was educated in the Miami-Dade County Public Schools and graduated from Miami Jackson Senior High School, where he proudly performed with the school band. He continued his education at Florida A&M University, where he was honored to be a member of the internationally acclaimed Marching 100.

Michael proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he conducted research work in support of the Navy’s mission. Following his military service, he began a distinguished career in healthcare. He was employed at Children’s Hospital in Washington, D.C., before returning to Miami. As a dedicated Surgical Technician, he worked in the trauma surgery and limb reattachment units at Parkway Regional Medical Center and Cedars Medical Center. He later continued his career at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he earned the respect and admiration of physicians, nurses, and colleagues through his skill, professionalism, and compassionate care.

Outside of his career, Michael had a lifelong love of music, nature, and animals. An avid animal lover, he found joy in the outdoors and appreciated the beauty of wildlife. He was known for his infectious laugh, warm smile, generous spirit, and heart of gold. Michael never met a stranger, and his kind and caring nature made everyone feel welcomed. Truly, everyone who knew him loved him.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Artis and Ethel Parks, and his sisters, Erma Albury and Grace Parks and Linda Parks who passed away days after him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving sisters, Maxine Parks Pollock, Yolanda Sweetwine; his beloved nieces and nephews, Angela, Tonya, Sabrina, Nathan, Shay, Stephanie, Shayla, George, and Julius; his devoted cousin, Karen Joseph; a host of loving great-nieces and great-nephews; extended family; cherished friends; and countless others whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Michael’s legacy is one of service, compassion, humility, and love. His dedication to his country, his profession, and, above all, his family will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him.
