“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.
Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
St. John 14:27

Blessed be the name of our God who gave the precious gift of life to Rosa on August 14, 1936, in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies. After the passing of her mother Ruby, she was lovingly raised by her grandmother, Myrtle Forrester. Rosa was the oldest daughter.

Rosa received her education from Saint Catherine Senior High. Soon after senior high school she became a Clerk in Allman Town Kingston. Rosa was a hard worker, beginning work at the age 18. She met George Chin-Loy and from that union, at age of 21, Rosa had her first child, Denise. She later got
married to Winston Burke 1967 and then later divorced.

In 1970 she migrated to the United States to Brooklyn New York. She got her start as a live in aide for two years. She then started at Bowery Savings Bank in 1972-1988. She relocated to Miami, to help her daughter Denise with her grand children. In June 1988 She started working at Memorial Hospital in the dietary department until she retired in 2003.

Rosa enjoyed going to the casino and playing Bingo, Riding her Bike, traveling, and going on cruises, where she made long lasting friendships. She had a love for cooking especially making roast duck and cow cod soup.

Rosa (Chicquita) was a loving and devoted matriarch of her family. She sacrificed and committed her life to care for her family. She had a genuine concern for others and had a way of making people feel loved and accepted. She was known for her faithfulness to God, and her family. One of her scriptures was Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. She enjoyed being among family and friends and valued those relationships. Those who knew her will cherish her memory and are grateful for the role she played in their lives. They count it a blessing to have shared her life.

On October 23,2021, Rosa answered her Master’s call, the gates of Heaven opened and the Angels of the Lord rejoiced as they welcomed her home.
