Adam Torres, 99, of Plantation, Florida passed away Friday, May 26,2023. He was born January, 5th, 1924 in Arecibo Puerto Rico to the late Juan Torres and Rosa Cortes.
He was a unique and rare man, an anchor – someone that projected strength and determination. Someone you could count on in good times and bad and possessed many wonderful qualities. He was self-made, hard working, devoted to his family, strong-willed and, above all, honorable. He worked in the Merchant Marines for over 35 years and rose through the ranks to eventually reaching the position of vessel Captain. He was not a great talker, but when he did it was the truth and he meant it. He was a man worthy of respect and admiration and will truly be missed.
He is predecease by his sons, John Michael and Ronald Torres ; his sister, Irene Peck and granddaugher , Michelle. Survived by his wife, Carmen; Daughter, Linda Winkelspect, son, Anthony Torres; Sister Dolores McGuaig; brother , John Torres; grandchildren, Jamie, Michael and Ronald and four great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Boyd-Panciera’s University Drive Chapel located at 1600 N. University Drive, Pembroke Pines, Fl 33024. Prayer Service at 11:00 am, followed by burial at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery in North Lauderdale, FL.
