Adrien Dure was born on February 10, 1940, in La Vallée de Jacmel, Haiti, where he was raised surrounded by family, cousins, nieces, and nephews who adored him. In 1950, he moved to Port-au-Prince to attend school, and in 1963, he joined his eldest brother, Philip, in New York before later settling in Evanston, Illinois.
In 1964, Adrien met the love of his life, Liliane Gregoire. The two were married on August 29, 1964, and shared more than 60 years of love, laughter, and devotion. Together, they raised three children — Stephanie, Hubert, and Michael — and later became the proud grandparents of Allyssa, Aarynn, Jordan (and her husband, Kyle), and Adrienne, and great-grandparents to their beloved Brooke.
Adrien worked for Material Services as a truck driver for over 30 years, where his work ethic and reliability reflected his deep sense of responsibility and pride. Outside of work, he was a man devoted to his family and community. He believed that “we are all we have” — and he lived by that creed every day. Whether driving 18 hours to help a relative, opening his home to friends, or serving faithfully at his church, Adrien showed up for those he loved — without question, without hesitation.
He and Liliane made countless memories traveling with their children to Wisconsin, New York, and Canada. Their home in Evanston wasn’t just a house — it was the house. The heart of the family. The gathering place where generations came together for holidays, birthdays, and celebrations of every kind. It was where laughter filled the rooms, music carried into the night, and no one ever left hungry or unnoticed.
Adrien’s presence anchored it all. He was the patriarch in every sense — steady, nurturing, and strong. His love set the tone for the family’s unity, his humor kept spirits light, and his open arms made everyone feel they belonged. Through his quiet strength and unwavering devotion, Adrien built more than a home — he built a legacy of togetherness that continues to bind his family today.
After retiring in 2002, Adrien and Liliane relocated to Pembroke Pines, Florida, where they built a new chapter of connection and purpose. Just as his home had always been a center of family life, his church became an extension of that same warmth and devotion. Adrien found great joy in being an active congregant at St. Edward Catholic Church, where he served faithfully as an usher and a proud member of the Brothers in Christ.
He loved being part of the church community — never missing a service, celebration, or opportunity to lend a hand. Whether greeting parishioners with his signature smile or helping organize events, Adrien brought his distinctive humor, humility, and steadfast spirit to everything he did. His faith was not just practiced; it was lived, reflected in the way he cared for others, celebrated life, and built meaningful connections wherever he went.
On September 30, 2025, Adrien Dure passed away peacefully in Pembroke Pines, Florida, surrounded by his beloved wife, Liliane, his daughter, and his eldest granddaughter.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Volmy and Finelas Dure (Lesperance), and his siblings Philip, Clemente, Vilbren, Aimee (Sister Gonzaque), Ester, Simone, and Alvarez.
Though his physical presence has departed, Adrien’s spirit remains deeply woven into the lives he touched. His laughter still echoes in the stories his family tells, his generosity lives on in the hearts of those he helped, and his faith continues to guide all who knew him. He taught us that love is action, that family is sacred, and that showing up for one another is the truest expression of grace.
Adrien leaves behind a legacy of faith, unity, and unwavering love — a legacy that will continue to strengthen and inspire generations to come.
