Barbara Lammie

Barbara Lammie

March 09, 1930~December 24, 2020

The words of the late Horatio Gates Spafford have beautifully described the life of our mom, grandma, and great-grand mom best with these words:

When peace, like a river, attendeth her way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever her lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Chorus:
It is well, with her soul,
It is well, with her soul,
It is well, it is well, with her soul.

Mom (Barbara Lammie) went home to be with her maker December 12/24/2020 @ 8:27am.  Barbara was the 6th of seven children born to Theophilus and Susan Brooks on March 9, 1930 in Linstead, St. Catherine, Jamaica, West Indies

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her children Charles and Sandra, 6 grandchildren: Lisa, Jennifer, Danny, Jason, Craig, and Sydney and 6 great grandchildren. She is survived by her older sister Mary Brown and preceded in death by brothers Frank, Oscar, Leonard and sisters Enid and Merle.

Barbara migrated to the United Kingdom (England) where she worked for the London Transport System for 8 years before moving to Bronx NY, USA, where she worked at LaConia nursing home for 25 years.

Her passion for people led her to dedicate her life to caring for others as noted in her profession and in her enduring love and attention to her family and friends.

The family would like to express sincere thanks and immense gratitude for the care and support given by The Rainbow Place (Keisha, Gaytrice, Alcia).

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid upon me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. II Timothy 4, Verse 7-8.

Dear Gran Aunt, words cannot express how you will be missed both near and far, by everyone.
We all love you but Jesus loves you best, that’s why he reached down from heaven and plucked one of his most beautiful rose from his garden.
Gone but not forgotten.
Rest in peace.

Was really looking forward in seeing my aunt, unfortunately.
Gonna miss you so much but God sees the discomfort you probably was going through. Jesus is coming very soon, hoping to see you in the first resurrection. Death will be swallowed up in victory. Sleep peacefully aunt Barbara. Condolences to Sandra, Charles and other relatives.

I share your grief my sister. Your mom was also my mom. I knew you both before I knew my name.
I know she is now resting in peace and will get together with her old friends later. (You know who they are)
Today we will celebrate her time with us and bid her farewell with tears in our eyes.
Aunt Babs , we love you.
Sandra, I am always here for you.

Dearest Sandra,
My condolences to you and your family.
Jesus saw how beautiful Aunt Babs was in his rose garden and he did not want to leave her there any longer so he reached down and plucked one of his most beautiful flowers from his garden so she could be with him.
We all love her but Jesus loved her best.
