Bert was born in the village of Moriah, Tobago, he was the youngest of seven boys. He attended Bishop’s High School in Scarborough, Tobago. He did his undergraduate degree in Agriculture at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad. He did a second degree in Property Valuation at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom and a Master’s Degree at New York University in New York.
Bert married his sweetheart, Claire in 1975 and they made Trinidad their first home until 1990, when they migrated to Fort Lee, New Jersey, then Newmarket, Ontario. In 1994, his loving wife, Claire lost her battle to Colon Cancer. A newly widowed, single father, he moved to Richmond, Virginia and then made Miramar, Florida his final home.
Bert had a long career in property surveying, land valuation, property management and real estate appraisal in the many cities he called home. Bert was one of the early employees responsible for the initial implementation of the Property Valuation Division of the Trinidad and Tobago Government, then worked at the Private Valuation firm of Raymond and Pierre and then in Property Management at TRINTOC. However, his most
important job was being both mom and dad to Yanick and Gavin. Bert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle and friend.
Even though Bert moved away from Tobago as a teenager, Tobago was near and dear to him and he went home several times a year. He enjoyed the beach, gardening and traveling. He loved liming with, cooking for and entertaining his family and friends. Bert was a man of few words, who could say a lot with a simple “hmm” or a “steups”. He was a man of action, he was a gifted listener and he possessed a strong moral compass. He
was generous with his time and his resources. He was exceedingly loyal. Many described him as a gentle giant.
Bert was not one for fanfare and as a result, he did not want to have a funeral service. He will be cremated in Miramar, Florida and his ashes will find their resting place in hishomeland of Tobago. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Bertrand
Isaac to Life Raft Group, an organization whose mission is to enhance the survival and quality of life for people living with GIST.

This Gentle Giant was my best man when I got married in 1969. We remained close since we met in 1962. I was fortunate to have him in my life. Quiet, unassuming and principled person. Sincere condolences to his family and all who were lucky to have a part of his outstanding life.

To the Isaac Family. I worked with Bert during the mid 1990’s while employed with the Office of the Assessor of Real Estate for the City of Richmond, Virginia. Gentle giant was the perfect description for Bert. At that time my name was Bettie Clarke and I served as Chief of Administration for the department. I fondly remember his professionalism and kind demeanor. He and I spoke often as he shared many stories of his children, his travels and life in Trinidad. You have my sincere condolences. Just know that another angel has earned his wings. Blessings to you.

I remember lots of wise advice from Bert as a boy growing up “in town.” Later, I was very pleased to see him in the gym at University of Virginia when he lived in Richmond. He was always a light to me and all, especially with his bright smile. Sincere condolences to the Isaac family. May Bert Rest In Peace.
