Brenda Christine Evans, age 75, of Miramar, FL gained her wings on Sunday, September 24, 2023. Brenda was born on Friday September 3, 1948, in St. Andrew, Jamaica to proud parents,
Oscar Michael & Daisy Vira Evans. She was the eldest of nine children and learned the value of family from an early age.
Princess Brenda lived a pampered lifestyle throughout her early years. She attended St. Francis Primary School in Kingston, Jamaica and was awarded a scholarship to the Convent of Mercy, Alpha Academy. After leaving Alpha Academy, Brenda attended Excelsior High School, from where she graduated in 1967.
As a child, Brenda attended Sunday School & Mass regularly at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Andrew. She took her First Holy Communion at the age of ten and became a devout
Catholic.
After High School, Brenda worked with the Ministry of Defense and remained there until she migrated to the United States of America in 1987. She and her children eventually settled in Hollywood, Florida. As a single parent, Brenda worked tirelessly to support herself and her family, ensuring they never lacked anything. She showered her children with love, support, and
prayers, and continued to do so even after they became independent adults. Her devotion and regard extended to her grandchildren, who she considered the light of her world! She spent valuable time assisting with their care, taking them to school, or meeting them on the school bus in the afternoons.
Known for her genuine love, compassion, and commitment, Brenda was a courteous, altruistic woman. She possessed a giving spirit, always putting others’ needs before her own. Her
infectious smile and jovial spirit brightened the lives of those around her.
Brenda loved beautiful clothes. Her friends and relatives will attest to the fact that she was a real fashionista! She always ensured her nails, and her hair were well maintained. You could
often meet Brenda on the dance floor on Saturday nights because she loved music and dancing.
Frequently, Brenda could be heard singing to the sound of Otis Redding’s, “Pain in my Heart” with the chorus being the most plaintive, “Oh, oh, oh!” Sometimes she would belt out the
music of the Imperials, “Walk Like a Man.” It was hilarious to watch her holding her chest as she danced across the living room floor.
During the past decade, Brenda got the opportunity to really enjoy some of life’s pleasures. She embarked on her first cruise, visited Disney World for the first time, and explored various resorts overseas. She enjoyed cooking a variety of Jamaican dishes and baking her favorite Jamaican Fruit Cake. She also enjoyed going shopping, doing laundry, and spending quality time with her grandchildren.
Brenda enjoyed working at Memorial Regional Hospital, in Hollywood, Florida, where she met and bonded with many of the staff, patients, and visitors. Unfortunately, her career came to a
premature end when she suffered a fall on the job, that resulted in knee replacement surgery, triggering early retirement.
In addition to her many admirable attributes, Brenda was a devoted servant of the Lord. She became a member of Park Road Presbyterian Church, and found solace in prayer, reading her bible, singing gospel hymns, and sharing inspirational messages.
Brenda is survived by her seven children, Georgiana, Phillip, Emile, Andre, Jerome, Nichelle, and Nelissa. She also leaves behind a plethora of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, six sisters, two brothers, nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and close friends.
Brenda will be deeply missed by her loved ones and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, strength, and kindness will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
A celebration of life to honor and reflect on her caring, magnanimous spirit will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Park Road Presbyterian Church in Hollywood, Florida.

My Big Sis!
I will always remember our family gatherings with your funny jokes and your infectious laughter. I will miss our phone calls. I am happy we got to see and speak with each other before your passing. I will miss you but you will forever be in my heart and mind. It’s so hard to say goodbye but until we meet again, I love you. Rest in peace, big sis.
