I enjoyed the benefits of Brians MWL software for the last few years as did thousands across this planet. All without ever meeting him but shared many an Email. He struggled with the priorities of his life and made it clear that his family was number one. Lori, thank you for sharing him with us. His love and enthusiasm for the many Cyber freinds in MWL was not unnoticed. Be assured that the MWL community will never forget as he is known to us all “the founder”. To his children I wish to say “your father was a loving man who gave much to many he never met. Live your lives by his example and be so very proud of your Dad.”

Thank you Brian and rest now, your mission is done…

As an MWL member, I came to know Brian by his work. In my limited conversations with him, he was always respectful and even-handed. He created a great thing in his MWL software, one that has brought together many people from all over the world. He cared about all of them, and shared his work and time with them. He proved himself to be selfless, dedicated, and caring.

He will be sorely missed by many of us at MWL. I hope that we can only find worthy ways of honoring him.

Brian, you will always be remembered. My condolences to his wife Lori and his children, Ian and Nicholas. Brian always spoke very fondly of you whenever we talked.

I worked with Brian at MWL almost from the time he founded it, and during that time we got to know each other quite well. I will miss our long evening chats and the fun we had in developing MWL. I regret that we never did get that chance to meet in person.

I have always admired his drive to forge the people of MWL into a community, something in which he succeeded, despite the odds. His work touched a lot of people all over the world. We will do our best to keep MWL alive in his memory.

Finally, a dutch poem in his memory:

“De mensen van het licht

zijn aan de dood voorbij,

de Heer sloot hun de ogen dicht,

ze leven voort, zijn vrij.”

“The people of light

have passed beyond death,

the Lord closed their eyes,

yet they live on, free.”

March 7, 2007, 12:00 am

Brian was one of the most even-tempered men I’ve ever met or spoken to. He never got upset. He never got worked up. He always healed…not divided. He excelled in forging an online community out of a bunch of folks that love this old game we call Mechwarrior. Where people from all walks of life and many nations just look at this guest list! come together and become one for the enjoyment of being in a relationship with friends, and playing a few rounds…Brian made that happen.

May God bless your wife, children, and family, Brian. I don’t know how this could have happened to you…or why. We don’t always know the cause or the reason. But what I do know is that you were a very good human being, with a warm, gentle, loving soul. I hope to see you again someday. And I am sure I will.

You’re only dead, when the last person you’ve touched passes away too. Until this happens, you’re still amongst us, your friends, your family and all your fellow mechwarriors.

We shall meet again somewhere in the future. Until then, take care of your loved ones from heaven Brian.

I never met Brian but he touched my life in ways he will never know. He brought together thousands of people for one purpose, to play a game we all love. He made us a home to call our own and a community it was fun to be apart of. Thank you to Brian for your hard work and thank you Lori for sharing him with us. His legacy will continue as long and there is 1 mech pilot still around. God bless you and may his peace be with you forever.

Brian…Neuro, will be sadly missed by the Mech community. He has had the largest influence on our community of any Mechwarrior, by far, including the developers at Mektek.net.

I’ve known him for almost as long as MWL has been around, and mostly only through arguing with most of his policy decisions, disliked him even. Even still, knowing someone for so long at least, it seems like a long time, having grown up with MWL, his loss is the loss of a comrade, and it is felt keenly by all of us.

Gaming is to some is more important than it is to others. Brian ran a wonderful community and brought together countless individuals to play a game he truly loved.

Not forgotten. Good, or bad, in the MW universe it doesn’t matter… In the real world, you were so generous with your time coding the Dark Rift site and bringing together a group of gamers from all over the world for fantasy and fun. The experience would have never been the same without you. Rest in peace, Brian.
