Camille La Monica

December 03, 1928~November 24, 2025

Camille La Monica (nee Pepe), passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and cousin. She was 97 years old.

Camille was predeceased by her parents, Salvatore Pepe and Rose Spagnuola, her brother, Salvatore Jr., her husband, Tony (Anthony) La Monica, and her daughter, Michelle.

She will be profoundly missed by her loving family: daughters Lisa La Monica Braun (Brian) and Selene Munach (Dana); grandchildren Jesse Munach (Kelly), Samantha Murphy (Stephen), and Sheridan Munach; her great-grandchildren Jayce Munach and Sterling Murphy, and her cherished cousins, Ricki and Kim Rosano.

Born in Brooklyn in 1928, Camille lived with her close-knit family until she met Tony – a handsome dresser, amateur musician, hard-worker, and most importantly, an avid dancer. Camille and Tony danced their way through the many stages of their life together.

With the advent of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, the family moved to Staten Island where Camille was a dedicated homemaker, whipping up delicious dinners and holiday outfits for her daughters. Before long her entrepreneurial spirit flourished and she developed a business in the beauty industry called “Lady Camille”, purchasing, styling and selling hairpieces through her concession and the popular personalized “home parties” of the era. Camille was always known for her fashion sense, flair, and vivacious, indomitable spirit- she had a remarkable zest for life!

In 1980, Camille and Tony moved to Florida and soon after, Selene, Lisa and Grandma Rose reunited there. The family enjoyed many wonderful years together and is profoundly grateful to have had Camille’s presence for so long.

A fiery, beautiful and energetic would Camielle was a pleasure to have in my life. A true matriarch, she was strong and opinionated but also loving and caring.
She will be missed. All our love to her family
