I just found out that my most memorable teacher left this earth. I am 48, but Mrs. Bartholf was always on my mind. I was in the choir for many years at Pembroke Pines Elementary, and most of my fondest memories are of her. I’ll never forget her.

I am just now reading of this heartbreaking news. I was blessed enough to have her cultivate my love for music at PPE School from 1970-75. I was in many of her plays most notably Tom Sawyer. Sang in the choir and was a helper of hers on many occasions. To say she was one of the most influential woman in my life would be an understatement. She was one of the most influential people in my life. At 58 years of age now, I can remember so many times involving her as if it were yesterday. Her love of music and all things horses remains etched in my memory, just as she is. Her love for her students and passion for passing her love of music on to others is legendary. I only wish I could of seen more of her after leaving elementary school. My younger sister had her as well and I was lucky enough to see her several time a year, as my sister participated in many of her projects. Beautiful both on the inside and out she will never be duplicated. She was a one and only. A living legend. A hero to so many and will be missed more than anyone could ever know. Prayers and my sincerest condolences to all of Mrs B’s family and friends. We loved you dearly. Somewhere in heaven the beautiful melody of an autoharp is making the angels smile and Mrs B is at the strings.

I’m so sorry I didn’t look her up sooner. She was such an amazing person. I had the honor of being her student back in 84-85 at Davie Elementary. I had a very musical family and was in kindergarten when I met Carol. My brother and I were both in her choir. She gave me love of the classics and music. Before I left D.E, we did the wizard of oz as the play that year and the choir sang of course. I’ll never forget it or her. She truly loved her job. I only wish I could’ve talked with her once more as an adult. I was just talking about her today and looked her up to find this. I’m so sorry to her family for your loss. She changed my life and will always be my favorite teacher. Rest in peace gone but will never be forgotten.

Wow. Mrs. Bartholf opened my eyes to music and culture I had never seen. I’ll never forget her teaching us to square dance and do the Hora. She gave everything to us at school and we loved her so very, very much. My brother, several close friends, and I sang in her first school choir in 1978. We would practice before and after school and once at my house because the room was not available. Visiting her home was a huge honor for me. It was the first and only time I rode English on a horse.

There are songs and movies that she forever etched in my brain 8ncludong The Trout, by Schubert which we learned in both German and English. I smile everytime * hear my Samsung appliances sing that song to me.

I was lucky enough to attend Davie Elementary in the 90s with her as my music teacher. Her passion for instilling an appreciation for music and culture in children was second to none. From dancing to singing, and everything in between, she helped give students the tools to become cultured adults. No other teacher in all my years ever had the same impact on me as Mrs. Bartholf. It was an honor.

Remembering Mrs Bartholf, my music teacher in Alexandria VA, may have been her first teaching position. She was so beautiful at 23 years old and was always that way for me. We stayed in touch through letters at Christmas time through the years. She has truly been an inspiration musically and culturally in my life, seeming to have achieved a grand life doing what she loved…music, her horses, her pets and, of course her family. Her impact on my life has been felt every day. I last saw her in Seattle as she was passing through. A thrill for me to see her again. A smile comes to me with thoughts of her. Sympathies to her husband, son and family.

One of the most important and impactful teachers of my life. So sad to hear of her passing. She was my choir teacher for 5 years and my piano teacher of 4. She was a wonderfully passionate person who loved sharing her gifts. She will be missed greatly.

What a great lady! I was reliving some of my best memories at Pembroke Pines Elementary and I thought of her, then I arrived at this page. How many of us think of Mrs. Bartholf when we think of great music? Mrs. Bartholf had so much passion and energy. Even if we were not naturally musical, she brought the music to life for us and made us all part of the experience. I’m remembering the Vienna Choirboys, classroom productions of Don Gato and the Patriotic Show…Thank you so much, Mrs. Bartholf.
