Christine Baduvakis Bernis, age 87, of Pembroke Pines, Florida, passed away on September 20, 2022. She was born in Andover, Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald John Bernis, her daughter Barbara Blount, her son Thomas Bernis, and her grandson Randall Patterson.
After working for over 25 years as a registered nurse, she taught health occupations at Cooper City High School in a program which she helped to design & implement. She also worked at area hospitals, doctors’ offices, and at the county health department.
She was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the consummate traveler – her motto was “You’re only as good as your last trip”. She loved to read, to cook, to play the piano, and to keep in touch with others. She preached the value of “keeping your name clean” and always doing the right thing! She was a devout Catholic who served her church well.
She is survived by her son Paul (Anne) Bernis, her daughter Diane (Tom) Andrew, her grandchildren: Ryan (Chris) Bernis, Corey (Rebecca) Bernis, Abigail Martin, Robyn Andrew, and Andrew (Seth) Bernis and her great-grandchildren: Valentina Bernis, Vivian Martin, Victoria Bernis and Landon Bernis.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at 8:00 AM at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 7450 Stirling Road, Hollywood, Florida 33024.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, 1600 University Drive, Pembroke Pines Florida 33024.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Christine’s memory at cancer.org.

Mrs. Bernis was a lovely person, gifted nurse and devout Christian, with a zest for life. I was lucky to enjoy many tea adventures with her— now there are two Queen Mums in Heaven!

Christine was a pleasure to work with along with her son Paul. We took care of her for over 2 years until the very end, and our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and Mr. Paul Bernis.
