CLARICE LOUISE DUBISSETTE-DUNN

(nee HEMMING)

Clarice Louise Hemming was born on August 21, 1923 and died on March 19, 2024, She was
born in Spanish Honduras, the fourth child of Leslie and Gwendolyn Hemming. Clarice had eight
siblings and is survived by her sisters Pearl Derby (Jamaica) and Norrice Fuller (Florida).

She married Sydney Dubissette (deceased) and had four children, Barrington (deceased),
Norman (deceased) Faith (Montreal) and Lucille (New York).

Clarice migrated from Kingston, Jamaica to the United States in 1952. She lived in Bronx, NY
for many years until her retirement then she moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida .In New York
City, she first worked as a beloved live-in Nanny and later worked as a Nurses Aid in a
Retirement Home. While in NYC she met and married Egbert Adolphus Dunn (deceased). In
Florida, she was a devoted member of the Church of the Nazarene and attended Church often
until she was unable to physically do so. She loved the sermons and especially loved singing
her favorite hymns. She had a simple belief in God, and was an avid reader of the Bible which
was a guiding force in her life. She lived her life by the tenets of the Scriptures…Love they
neighbor as they self…Do unto others as you would want them do unto you. Her favorite hymn
was the 23 rd Psalm…The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want…” , which was sung to her as
she transitioned from this life.

She was proud to be a Centenarian and constantly reminded one and all of her age and was
also proud to be the oldest surviving sibling of her parents, Leslie and Gwendolyn.

She was passionately devoted to her children and her extended family. Towards the end of
life, she still remembered birthdays and phone numbers of family members. Each morning she
thanked the Lord for giving her another day. Her homes in New York and Florida was a
welcome haven to both family and friends. She was the ultimate hostess, dedicated to making
everyone comfortable and happy in her home. Her qualities of quiet strength, gentleness and
generosity made her a favorite of the family and the wider community. She was the keeper of
our family history and took pride in orally sharing stories and photos with the younger
generation. She will always be remembered with love by her surviving children, Faith and
Lucille, son in law, “Leithland” Lee , Shirley, daughter in law. She was adored by her
grandchildren, Nicola, Michelle, Denise, Roger, Charles, Russell, Jeremy, Christopher and
Jackie. She will be missed by her many nephews: and nieces; Andrew, Craig, Richard,
Saundra, Renee, Judith, Paulette, Jennifer, Recaldo, Christine ,Grace-Ann.,Stanley,Peter ,Frank ,Marcia,Donny ,and
Jackie. She was known as GG, Grandma and Momsy to her many great grand children and
numerous friends.

Visitation to be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, 1600 N. University Drive, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33024.

Sincere condolences to you all. Clarice was blessed with a long life among a large and loving family. I am happy to have met her and shared her winning personality. She will be sorely missed by you all, but take comfort knowing that she is at Rest and in Peace!
