Clarice Rose Franklin

3/23/34 -11/10/23

Born in the vibrant city of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Clarice entered the world as a cherished daughter to the late Ernest and Lucille Shumaker, surrounded by the love of her 11 siblings. As a devoted sister to Eileen, Edward, Donna, Mavyn, and Charlene, who preceded her in death, Clarice leaves a lasting legacy of family bonds, survived by her dear siblings Arden, Ila, Janell, Alfred, and Robert.

Clarice’s journey began at Kiel High School, where she not only excelled academically but proudly earned the title of homecoming queen—a cherished memory she carried with her throughout her life. After graduating, she embarked on a new chapter, leaving her Wisconsin roots for the bustling city of Chicago. There, she carved her professional path, transitioning from an administrative role in a major accounting firm to the skies as a stewardess for American Airlines.

In 1957, Clarice’s life took a beautiful turn when she met and married Ray Teboe. Their journey led them to New Jersey before settling in the warm embrace of South Florida, where they lovingly raised seven children. Together, Clarice and Ray ventured into the world of real estate, establishing their own successful business.

Ever the advocate for education, Clarice obtained her Real Estate Brokerage license while raising her children. As they approached high school graduation, she joined the University of Miami School of Continuing Studies as an administrative assistant to the Dean. Her dedication went beyond her role, fostering connections with students and relishing in the opportunity of tuition remission, allowing each of her children the gift of a college education.

In 1993, Clarice found love again with Gordon Perkins, sharing precious years until his passing in 1999. Her retirement in 2000 marked the end of 23 years of service with the University of Miami, a testament to her commitment and passion for education.

A new chapter unfolded in 2001 when Clarice married Carl Franklin. Together, they became pillars of their community as active members of the Miami Lakes Lyons Club, where Clarice served as treasurer. Their partnership endured until Carl’s peaceful passing in 2017.

Clarice Shumaker Teboe Perkins Franklin, a woman of grace, resilience, and boundless love, leaves behind a tapestry of memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were privileged to know her. May her spirit soar, and may her legacy continue to inspire us all.

She is the beloved mother of Mark Teboe, Bret Teboe, Dana (Brenda) Teboe, Glenn (April) Teboe, Ramona (Neal) Sheerer, Jon Teboe and Rene (Vicki) Teboe; proud grandmother of Danielle, Brandon, Gabrielle, Jackson, Chloe, Cindy, Chase, Christian, Kyra, Hunter, Amber, Dylan and Celeste; and ecstatic great-grandmother of Olivia Rose.

I am sorry that we will be unable to be there in person to say good-bye to my sister. Our condolences go to all of her children, Mark, Ramona, Brett, Dana, Jon, Glenn, and Rene. I will always remember such good times we had as children growing up in Wisconsin, As we talked on the phone so often recently, she was always able to remind me of some of those fun times. I will miss those conversations but am so grateful that she was able to share those memories with me.

Dear Teboe Cousins,
While my mom was in a nursing for over 7 years, Clary was so kind to call and talk with her, even though they both had difficulty hearing each other. I was able to put the phone on speaker and also interpret what they were saying. It is so important to continue to let your famiy know you care. They had a conversation most years and a few letters and Christmas cards. I was considering flying to Florida for the funeral But have a commitment to taking care of my 3 year old granddaughter. I could tell you a story about Clary Shumaker, Homecoming Queen and Wilfred Kleinhans, Homecoming King. My dad wrote a book of his life and he has a section in it about that time. I hope a family reunion will bring you back to Wisconsin for a visit. Or visit anytime you want to enjoy Wisconsin’s wonders. My home is always open to you, Enjoy all the wonderful memories you have and I know there are many,

Love, Kathy Koll
