Colleen Patricia Cameron

September 08, 1955~January 30, 2024

Colleen Patricia Cameron passed into eternal rest on January 30, 2024, after a
prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 68 years old. She lived a full life.
She is survived by her two sons, Christopher James Cameron with daughter-in-law
Kari; Curtis Edward Cameron with daughter-in-law Johnna; four grandchildren –
Ryen, Eryn, Colton and Conner; Mother – Mildred Gay; Six siblings – John,
Sandy, Scott, Kevin, Keith, and Mike, and scores of friends who she would treat
and consider as family.
Colleen was the second child and first daughter born to James and Mildred Gay on
September 8, 1955 in Vallejo, CA, where her father was stationed at the time for
the Navy. She and her six siblings were raised in Hollywood. FL. At an early age,
she expressed her love for animals – especially horses. She loved riding them and
just being around them. She was a naturally gifted artist. The subject of her
sketches and paintings were usually horses – sometimes dogs or cats.
She was in the first graduating class at Cooper City High School. She attended
Broward Community College, but cut her educational pursuits short to devote
herself to being a mother.
She was very devoted to her family. She was married to Clay Cameron and
together, they raised their two boys, Chris and Curtis, into becoming fine men who
are now have beautiful families of their own. She loved being a mother. It was as
natural to her as breathing. Later in life, she moved in with and took care of her
elderly mother. She watched over and loved dearly her grandchildren.
She had a huge heart and was the patron saint for small children, animals, the
down-trodden or discouraged and disadvantaged – anyone that needed help that
happen to cross her path. She was especially tender toward strays – a natural
defender of the underdog (or under-cat).
In lieu of flowers, gifts or donations, the family has asked that you consider taking
in a stray cat, or giving a homeless man a meal, or do a random act of kindness to a
total stranger. Or in lieu of that, step on a palmetto bug – she hated roaches and
palmetto bugs.

Arrangements entrusted to Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, 1600 N. University Drive, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33024.

I did not know Colleen personally however I do know Curtis and I wouldn’t think she was anything less than wonderful! The apple does not fall far from the tree and if she was anything like Curtis than she must have been a wonderful human!! Praying for comfort and peace in knowing she is out of pain and resting eternally. 🙏
