I just learned about David’s passing today from our mutual friend Marc Berner. I played drums on David’s album which was recorded in 1992, right before I moved from Miami to LA. He was a good friend, and though it’s been many years since I had seen him or spoken to him, I will miss him and remember him fondly. He was a sincere guy and a great musician. My condolences to his entire family.

I am in shock at this moment. I was checking WLRN website on another matter then on a thought checked out ‘Sounds of the Caribbean’, to see the news of David Mitchell Rueter’s passing ! ! My husband and I have been big fans of Ras D, we had no idea of his race, color or creed only that we enjoyed the ‘old school’ music he shared with us, whenever we could stay awake to listen and when mentioning him to our friends and encouraging them to listen we joked he had to be a ‘Caribbean person in an American body’ because of his wide collection of music and DJ style. It was just recently I mentioned to my husband that we had not heard him on the radio, I know he will be sadden to hear of this.

My condolences to his family and would like them to know that those of us who enjoyed him entertaining us with his beautiful tunes and which had brought fun and laughter into our lives, Ras D will always be remembered and speak of among our friends.

I am in shock. Great person, Great singer and you could always depend on him. We played together in a band called Wolfepack and I remember when he started at WLRN. He was very happy to be on the Radio. I had not spoken to him for many years and then I ran into someone that had his phone number. I called and spoke to him sometime in June of last year never thinking I would never speak to him again. We laughed about the band we had together and promised to keep in touch.

I am so sorry to hear of his death. My deepest condolences to his family and parents.
