Donald Martin Kah passed away at Artis Senior Living in Davie, Florida, on August 4, 2020. Don, son of Elmer and Lugenia Kah of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, was born in 1937 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A resident of Hollywood, Florida, for the past fifty years, he was an unabashed Green Bay Packer fan. Don settled in south Florida after completing four years of active duty in the U.S. Navy. A proud and grateful veteran, he served as a communications technician in San Diego, California, and on the island of Guam. Don was a member of the U.S. and Florida Naval Cryptologic Veterans Associations, attending meetings in Florida and in cities all over the United States.
Don graduated from Broward College and Florida Atlantic University, earning both baccalaureate and masters degrees in business administration. Maintaining a lifelong association with Broward College and FAU, he supported college basketball games and was a devotee of Lifelong Learning programs offered at the FAU Boca Raton Campus. In keeping with his love of and participation in sports, including basketball, tennis and bowling, Don celebrated the Miami Heat’s inaugural season in 1988-89 by buying season tickets and enjoyed attending games with family and friends
for many years.
Don was employed for almost thirty years as an outside sales representative in the south Florida area for Burroughs Wellcome Pharmaceutical Company, which has merged to become GlaxoSmithKline. Before and after retirement, he served as a dedicated volunteer assistant high school coach for girls’ softball at South Broward High School in Hollywood, Florida, and for men’s basketball at the new Flanagan High School in Pembroke Pines.
Many will remember Don as a thoughtful, caring and generous man who valued and maintained friendships. He was a loving, proud, and protective husband and father. He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Susan, daughter, Amanda Kah, and granddaughter, Giovanna Abaunza, as well as sisters-in law, Sandra Faul, Betsey Kohlus, and Janet Kohlus and brothers-in-law, David Kohlus, Barry Kohlus, and Richard Faul and thirteen nieces and nephews.
The family is immensely grateful to all the health care providers who cared for Don at Memorial Hospital West, Artis Senior Living, and to those who comprised the Vitas team.
Donations in Don’s memory can be made to the FAU Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, ollifll@fau.edu.

Dear Susan
Jackie and I were deeply saddened to hear about Don’s passing. Don will always be loved and remembered by our family for his gentle nature, generosity, witty stories, love of sports and the shared recounts of our Navy adventures. We loved your visits.
Brian and Laura loved their Uncle Don and will miss him although miles and circumstances made visits infrequent.
Jackie and I send you and yours our love and prayers during this sad time, Susan.
Please know we’re thinking about you all.
Love, Bill and Jackie.

Dear Susan,
Don will always be with us. As we celebrate a life well-lived, we know that Don will be an integral part of our family memories. We will see his smile when we recall his sense of humor. We will hear his voice when we remember his many stories. And we will think of his devotion to you and Amanda whenever we speak of love and family. Don will always be our brother.

Sandra and Richard

Dear Mrs. Kah and Amanda,
I am grateful to have met Mr. Kah and looked forward to the pop in visits at the office over the years. He always stopped by my office to say hello and gave me a good chuckle.
My prayers to you both and the entire family for strength and peace during this difficult time.

Dear Susan and Amanda, what a beautiful testimony this service was of a life well-lived and loved. Like you said to everyone at the beginning, Susan, “I wish I could hug you.” Somewhere Over The Rainbow was beautiful to hear while imagining Don there with wings.
Love you all, Barb

Dear Susan and Amanda and Giovanna,
There will come a day when the tears of sorrow will softly flow into tears of remembrance…
and your heart will begin to heal itself. Grieving will be interrupted by episodes of joy,
and you will hear the whispers of hope.
There will come a day when you will welcome the tears of remembrance…
as a sun shower of the soul, a turning of the tide, a promise of peace.
There will come a day when you risk loving, go on believing, and treasure the tears of remembrance.
We have spent hours remembering Don…
remembering Don with Susan and Amanda, Don with Giovanna…
and with all of us, laughing. We’ll miss him.
