Dwight D Marshall

Dwight D Marshall, age 70, passed away on May 25, 2023, in Hollywood, Florida. He was born on January 17, 1953, in Marshallville, Magoffin County, KY, to the late Earl D Marshall and Joyce Kidd.

Despite the challenges he faced growing up in the mountains, Dwight developed into a hands-on and knowledgeable individual who found solace in his passions. With a deep love for firearms and muscle cars, he became an expert in engines, generously sharing his knowledge with his sons and countless others. He dedicated his skills as a Marine Welder Fabricator to both Denison Marine and Broward Marine, leaving a lasting impact.

Dwight was affectionately known as “Mountain Man”. Due to his passion for radio communications and of course the love of the mountains. He met his beloved wife and life partner of 45 years via this way of communication. His extensive collection of radios showcased his enthusiasm for the field, and always willing to share his expertise with others. Dwight’s adventurous spirit and warm presence made him a cherished figure in the community.

From his first marriage, Dwight was blessed with two sons, Dwight Dean Marshall (predeceased) and Christopher Ray Marshall, nee’ Melissa Carter Schwind.

On March 22, 1981, he found love again and married Debra Gail Horton. Together, they raised Dwight’s two sons and welcomed two more sons, Robert George Marshall (nee’ Teresa Derrington) and Ryan Earl Marshall, into their loving family. Dwight took immense pride in being a grandfather to Megan, Benjamin, Matthew, Elizabeth, Timothy, William, and Donovan. Their presence brought him immeasurable joy and served as a constant source of pride. Additionally, he held a special place in his heart for numerous nieces and nephews.

Dwight is survived by his beloved life partner, Debra G. Horton, his brothers Timothy and Thomas Marshall, and his sisters Brenda Nichols and Donna Grimes. He was preceded in death by his sister Truda Dorton.

May the memory of Dwight D Marshall live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM, at Bamboo Gallery located at 2325 S Flamingo Rd, Davie, FL 33325.

All who knew Dwight are warmly invited to attend this meaningful event.
