SPEECK, Edmond H., 73, of Hollywood, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017, surrounded by his family. Ed was a proud veteran who served in the US Army as a Sergeant before being honorably discharged on April 30, 1970. Longtime girls softball coach, “Speeck” as the girls fondly called him, had an impressive tournament record that included 5 National Championships, 1 Regional Championship and 5 Florida State Championships, and an impressive 513 win 45 loss record, all in addition to coaching regular league softball for years. Ed was nominated for the ASA Girls Slowpitch Softball Hall of Fame. Proud as he could be of those accomplishments, he was humble and grateful for the memories and the lifelong friendships created. Ed was a humble and proud man with a smile that could light up a room. He was proud of his army service, proud of his softball career, proud of the close friendships he made along the way. He loved his family, he loved dogs, he loved his friends. He loved the Dolphins, the Yankees and the Noles. Ed was a good and kind man with a huge heart. Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Patricia; his loving daughter, Traci (Jason); sister, Carol; sister-in-law, Melissa; brother-in-law William (Joene) and sister-in-law Carole; nieces Kim (Mark), Kelly, Casey (Andrew), Alyce and Rachael (Tony); nephews Michael and Sonny; great nieces and nephews Chad, Taylor, Anna, Alexis, Angelina, Tyler, Lainey, and Addie. ED was a good guy and a gentleman, I had the pleasure of talking with him at the various Fire Department gatherings. It seems as though he touched many lives through his leadership on the softball field, etc. He will be missed by many. He was so blessed to have Pat by his side to take care of him, she is such an angel. Pat and the Speeck family are in our thoughts and prayers. Hugs and kisses to all! The Rectors (Scott & Jennifer)
