My Heart is Broken Edna was like a Mother to me. Sherri and I have been Best Friends since 3rd Grade..
We were always together, so when Sherri got in Trouble I was in trouble Too! We knew that Look! Edna and George used to Relax in there sitting chair’s outside, and here we’d come..Sherri and I used to do Cartwheels and Backflips, Backbends in front of them, sometimes for hours, We would Lookup and see them looking Over Us, We’d Yell..” Look at us!” As we Continued to Flip Flop in Front of Them!😂They would just Smile. When Sherri couldn’t come out to Play, I was Knocking on the Door every few minutes, until she called Sherri to go play. When I’d ask Edna if Sherri could spend the Night with me( it was a Relay)..Go ask Your Dad, then Go ask Your Mom..It was Back and Forth Many Time’s ( Relay) before they said ” Yes!” You Never saw Two Little girls pack so Fast!!!😂 I remember, we would have to be in the house before the Street lights came on, we would see Edna and George still sitting outside, and knew they would tell Sherri it was time to go in, but we knew we had alittle more time..so we’d walk around a different Block so they couldn’tsee us, and was still inside the house before the lights came on. Edna, was a Second Mom to Me, and Other’s in our neighborhood, we were all raised together and very Close. I Love You Enda with all my Heart, I will Always Remember and Cherish the Memories I had with You Growing up. . May You Rest In Peace.❤🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Abundance of Love, Lori

My heart goes out to Edna’s son Marty & daughter Sherri and also all of her close family members. My Aunt Edna “Nanny” was a very special lady to so many people. Especially, to the love of her life – George Thomas Smith. I know she missed him dearly and I will take comfort in knowing they are finally together again. Edna was one of 10 siblings and she was the last of all her “Duty” sisters & brothers to pass away. I know they are all happy together again and looking down on us. She was a strong, caring, selfless woman who would do anything to help those she loved. Even though she had health issues of her own, she welcomed her sister Margie to come live with her and she along with Sherri & Marty helped take care of Margie until she recently returned to Virginia. Margie passed away on October 28, 2023. This was just one example of Edna’s kind heart and how she always put others first. Words can’t express how much she meant to me. Her passing has left a void in my heart that nobody could ever fill. Edna and my mom Ruby were very close. Since my mom passed away in 2009, Edna has been my 2nd mom. I will miss going to visit her in Okeechobee and sitting with her for hours while we talk. I will always cherish our memories. I loved her with all my heart and I hope she is finally at peace with all of her family surrounding her with love. Someday we will all be together again. Until then, my sweet Nanny, you’ll be my 2nd guardian angel. You’re forever in my heart!

My sweet dear friend,Sheri! My heart and prayers are with you and your family with the loss of your mother. I know you were close and how much you loved her. God truly gained an angel. I remember when you and I began working together many years ago. I always admired you for how much you loved your family and we’re always there for them. When I had the chance to meet your mom I instantly had a true heart felt connection for her. She was so welcoming, sweet and kind. Such a beautiful lady. I always enjoyed my visits at her house. I know when we talk or see each other I will always think of your mom. For sure she is with your dad. They had an amazing love for each other. Know without a doubt they are with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. I love you Sherri and I cherish our friendship. Please know I am here for you if you need me. God Bless you and your family!♥️♥️🙏🙏

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Edna. She will be dearly missed. Edna was very devoted to her family. Most times I would go to her house with Sherri she would be in the kitchen cooking a meal she put her whole heart into. She was always kind to me and my children. May here memory live on in love and may she rest in peace.

Ms Edna made the best grilled cheese sandwich. Kyle and I loved her grilled cheese sandwich as much as she loved her wrestling. Her door was always open to me anytime day or night. She would treat me as one of her own anytime I would go to her house with Kyle. I will never forget Nanny Edna
