Edward J. Scanlon, Jr, a cherished member of the Hollywood, Florida community, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024, at the age of 78 surrounded by his children. Born on August 8, 1945, Ed was known for his warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends.

Ed is survived by his children; Walter Scanlon (Alyce), Edward Scanlon, III (Jill), and Jackie Lynn Friend; his Grandchildren, Edward IV, Taylor, Colton, Makenzie, Cassandra, Halie, Justin, and Kathleen; Great-Grandchildren Frejya and Silas; many nieces, nephews and friends.  He was preceded in death by his wife Denise Scanlon; his Father and his life long partner, Edward Scanlon, Sr and Edna Pruitt, his Mother Shirley Timmons; and his Granddaughter, Brianna Friend.

Edward joined the United States Army while still in high school later becoming a Military Police Officer.  He enjoyed modified stock car racing as both a car owner and driver.  As a truck driver, Ed spent the majority of his life traveling the country.  He later became the coordinator for Nationwide Trucking where he continued his passion for the trucking industry.

Ed was an active life member of the Hollywood Elks Lodge 2365 where he was a Past Exalted Ruler, American Legion Post 0180 and VFW.

A celebration of Ed’s life will be held on June 25, 2024, at 6:00 PM at Hollywood Elks Lodge 2365. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hollywood Elks Lodge 2365, 7190 Davie Road Ext, Hollywood, FL 33024-2404

Ed will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
