July 31, 1924~September 22, 2020

Frances Carole Rosenberg, age 96, of  Fort Lauderdale, Florida, passed away September 22, 2020. She was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. After graduating high school at age 15, Carole spent many years immersed in the city’s burgeoning entertainment scene where she worked as a hat check girl at the theatre district’s famous Frankie & Johnnie’s to singing the blues, as she could be found performing at many of the nightclubs she frequented, paying homage to the likes of Billie Holiday and others of that bygone era.

After marrying, she dedicated herself to raising her children as they grew up in Tenafly, NJ to Hallandale, FL; and during the summers in her most treasured place on earth, Montauk, NY, where she would host generations of family and friends well into her 80’s.

Carole’s passion for animals (particularly birds and dogs) and nature was infectious, as she thrilled in watching and sharing all she learned on the National Geographic and Animal Planet channels; as well as proudly displaying and sharing the bounty of her vegetable gardens she so lovingly tended to all the way into her 90’s.

Equally as endearing was her love of exotic and vintage cars (and bull riding)…nothing brought her more joy than driving her beloved 1959 Cadillac Convertible around Montauk, where she could appreciate the beauty of both; and loved when she would be stopped to chat about her car, making a new friend or acquaintance along the way, who was always the recipient of her attention and kindness.

Young or old, there wasn’t anyone who Carole wouldn’t make time for and share her heart with, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. As her youngest granddaughter succinctly puts it, “she was my first best friend”.

She was preceded in death by her parents:  Vincent Ingriselli and Rose Coccia Ingriselli; her husband, Arthur “Sonny” Rosenberg; siblings: Felice Earley, Rita Galdi and Frank Ingriselli and niece/God-daughter, Diane Galdi.

Frances is survived by her daughters: Laura Geri Meadows and Linda Frances Rosenberg; grandchildren: Joshua Cohen, Danielle Cohen and Elizabeth Meadows;  great-grandchild, AJ Maldonado; nieces/nephews: Joseph Galdi, God-daughter Janis Rosenbaum, Frank Ingriselli and Gregory Galdi and God-daughter, Cynthia Frances Fuess.

Due to recent restrictions on travel, interment of urn at Woodlawn Cemetery, located in Bronx, NY along with her sister’s family, will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the World Wildlife Foundation.

Arrangements entrusted to: Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, University Drive Chapel.
