Loving Mother, Aunt and “Grandmother”
Gloria Cecilia Sarraulte, 68 of Sunrise, entered into heaven on Sunday March 19, 2023 at Florida Westside Hospital after battling a late diagnosis of Hodgkin Lymphoma. She was the devoted Mother to her two children and was a beautifully caring maternal figure for many of her nieces and nephews. Gloria was born April 9, 1955 in San Jose, Costa Rica, daughter of the late Carlos and Maria (Romero) Sarraulte.
“Glore”,”Goya”, “Grandma” were just a few of the names you would hear called out from all who loved this most special woman. Gloria brought joy to all who knew her. Going through life with a learning disability never held her back. Goya was often described as having the best common sense of anyone around and she was always an excellent moral compass. Gloria overcame an impoverished childhood and endured much hardship in her life but she always lent her hand and support to her family members, friends or anyone who needed her. “Goya” as her nieces and nephews affectionately called her, loved to listen to music, especially the romantic boleros and energy of salsa. It was as if she could communicate the complexities of life through the acoustic rhythms of music. Everyone loved to see her smile and hear her say her signature “oh yes” while she offered you a glass of her famous iced tea. Goya will be so tremendously missed, as she touched so many people in her life. Gloria’s love and legacy will remain with her family always.
Glore was welcomed into heaven by her siblings Maria, Charlie and Teresita. She is survived by her two children Jennifer and Shaun Zuniga, her beloved Vincent Mott, who she raised, her brother David Sarraulte, and multiple generations of nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Gloria on Wednesday April 19th, at 11:00 AM at St Stephen’s Catholic Church in Hollywood, Florida followed by an inurnment at Fred Hunter’s Cemetery on Taft Street.
