Graham Heywood of Sunrise, Florida, passed away October 18 at the age of 56.
Graham is survived by Melanie Heywood, his Domestic Partner of Plantation, Florida; their daughter Mackenzie Heywood of Plantation, Florida; his parents Arthur and Olive Heywood of Barnstaple, England; his brothers Mark Heywood, Alan Heywood and Richard Heywood of England; and his sister Janet Heywood of England.
Graham was born in Barnstaple, England in 1964, and moved to Florida in 2003 after vacationing to Ft. Lauderdale to visit friends several times. This is where he met Melanie in 2004, and they had a beautiful daughter together, Mackenzie in 2009. Mackenzie was the light of his life.
In 2004, he started Southern Greens, a lawn service business, with just one lawn mower and by cutting neighbor’s lawns on his own. With years of hard work and dedication, he built it into a successful lawn maintenance and landscaping company with several employees. He also purchased NuTurf Garden Center in 2016, fulfilling a lifelong dream to own a store.
Graham proudly became an American citizen in November 2019. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and watching his favorite English football team, Manchester United, at the Kingshead Pub in Sunrise. Graham was also an avid cat lover and cared for many strays at NuTurf.
His happiest times were taking annual vacations with Melanie and Mackenzie to Sanibel Island, the Florida theme parks and Caribbean cruises. He loved shelling and had quite the collection of unique shells found throughout the years.
He will be greatly missed by many, and will live forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
