Holly Ann Bauer

September 25, 1953~August 04, 2014

On the night of Monday August 4th, Holly Ann Bauer passed away in quiet calm at Hospice by the Sea in Hollywood, Florida. A month before her 61st birthday, Holly died young with her family and friends surrounding and her famous sense of humor still intact.

Born on September 25th 1953, Holly was raised with her siblings in Athol, Massachusetts by Jim and Pauline Buckman. She was always known for her pursuit of fun and her willingness to laugh, especially at herself. Her larger than life personality, coupled with her innate ability to talk to people, made Holly a person that made others feel comfortable in her presence. She was never afraid to speak her mind, always quick to make friends, and openly generous to those she loved and to strangers alike. Holly moved to South Florida in her mid-twenties and married musician, Rick Bauer on Valentine’s Day in 1981. She helped to raise his four year- old son, Ricky, and the family enjoyed thirty-four years of a kind of chaos that only Holly could generate. Holly loved to dance, could have been the world’s greatest Elton John fan, relentlessly smoked Moore Menthols and cackled from the very core of her being. She was a treasured sister, a beloved daughter and the kind of friend that you kept for life.

After a fall at work, Holly’s physical health began to deteriorate and cancer was discovered in her lungs. The disease spread throughout her weakened body and finally to her brain. In her final days, she was able to spend time with many friends and family members who hurried to her bedside and eight hours after being administered her Last Rites, in a state of loving peace, she gave up her spirit.

In addition to many friends and extended family members, Holly is survived by her mother Pauline, her sisters Jill and Nancy, her brothers Michael and Wayne, her husband Rick, her son Rick, her grandsons Ricky and Christian, her nephews Greg, Jason, Jared and Andrew and her niece Tania Michelle.

Memorial services will be held on Friday August 22nd in Athol, Massachusetts. Upon her request, half of her ashes will be scattered in New Hampshire atop Mount Monadnock.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Holly’s passing. I always remember her zest for life and her wonderful personality was always an inspiration to others. She was always making me laugh. I have such fond memories of our childhood days on Petersham Road . I am so glad to hear that Holly’s life, though short, was rich and full. My sincere condolences to the entire family.
