Dr. J. Clinton Shope, 55 of Boca Raton, FL., went home to be with Jesus on August 8, 2012. His loving family surrounded him at his side after battling cancer for the second time. Clint was born May 28, 1957 in Cherry Hill, North Carolina to John R. Shope and Nancy Dupree Shope. He graduated in 1979 from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science, Summa Cum Laude in Microbiology. He received his doctor of medicine, University of Alabama Birmingham 1983. He did his residency at University of Florida, Department of Radiation Oncology 1983-1987. Clint worked 3 years at Naples Community Hospital, Naples, Florida before coming to Lynn Cancer Institute at Boca Regional Hospital in 1990. On April 13, 1991, Clint married the love of his life, Elana Hutchinson in Naples, Fl. They have 3 beautiful children, Hannah, Luke, & Nella. Clint loved the Florida beaches, Colorado Mountains, traveling with his family, turning trash to treasure, thrift shopping, biking, writing, shelling, walking on the beach, and sometimes even skinny-dipping in the ocean. Clint will forever be remembered for his kind, compassionate, genuine love for his family, friends, patients, and anyone who came into contact with him. He will be truly missed. Clint is also survived by his mother, Nancy of Naples; brother David wife, Priscilla of Naples; sister, Susannah Standal husband, Mike of Durango, CO. Also survived by niece & nephews, Kristina, JD, Jake, & Zak. Celebration Of Life will be held at Calvary Chapel Boca, 1551 W. Camino Real, Boca Raton, FL 33486 on Tuesday August 14, 2012 at 12 noon.
