Jim was born to Donald and Mildred (neé Herrick) in Iowa in 1953. He passed away in Miami, Florida on April 6, 2021. He had been a resident of Pembroke Pines, Florida for many years.
Jim was devoted to his family, and is survived by his wife of 47 years, Catherine, his children Sarah, Timothy, and Daniel, and daughter-in-law, Veronica. He is also survived by his siblings Frances Vaughan, Robert Dreher (Judy), Dee Cobb, David Dreher (Karen), William Dreher (Roxie), Donald Dreher (Teresa), and Joanne Mielke, as well as mother-in-law Maureen Frazer (Leland Wolf). Jim had many godchildren, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He also considered Catherine’s siblings to be his own. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mildred Dreher, and his brother Richard.
Born in Iowa, Jim also lived in five other states, considering each to be an exciting new adventure. He was a graduate of the St. Paul Technical College and Nova Southeastern University, and a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus.
Jim enjoyed a long career in telecommunications, including work on some of the earliest cellular systems in 1982 right through 5G systems in 2021. He loved traveling for work, and was proud of his participation on projects throughout North, Central, and South America, the Caribbean, and Israel. He also loved traveling with his family, and reveled in the role of travel guide.

We loved Jim and considered him a friend and surrogate grandparent to our kids. His love of life, smile, and dry humor made him such a lovable person. His presence will be forever missed but his memory will continue on in our lives and in our children’s lives. Our love goes out to the Dreher family.

We loved our Big Brother Jim and it was an honor that he thought of the Frazer siblings as his own as well.
His laugh filled the room and always found a good food somewhere near!! I cherish our younger days as well. Going to Iowa, the cell towers and Game Nights to name a few. He loved our Sister and they have a beautiful family and may all the good memories help during this time. Heaven got a Good One!
