James Michael Shannon Jr. was born on January 15, 1958 and parted from us on October 7, 2021. He went by many names, James, Jim, Officer Shannon, Jimmy, Yimmy, Uncle Jimmy and Daddy. Everyone who got the chance to meet this beautiful, remarkable man can only be described as beyond fortunate. He was a man of many skills, being that he was the most exceptional athlete, a hard and diligent worker, a wise and patient teacher, and a curious student of the world. Jim’s thirst for knowledge and expanding his mind was unquenchable.
During his time as a police officer, he saved countless lives and used his position to help others in every way he could. Out of all of his qualities, perhaps the one that truly sets him apart was the way he cared about others. He would put everyone before himself, he would refrain from spending money on himself to have extra for his children, he would help a neighbor without hesitation and he would even put his own life on the line to save a stranger.
As his daughter, having had the chance to call Jim my father is a blessing I will be forever grateful for. Daddy, from the moment you were gone, you were already missed by so many. We love you very much.

Although I didn’t know Jim, don’t know the family, and live 6,000 miles away, his death moves me to tears. Because I know Crystal, his daughter, even if only superficially from her Youtube channel. She has a big heart and a clear mind and is a very extraordinary person, so her father must have been a great and good person. I pray to God that grief will not overwhelm you.
But grief is also important because it keeps our beloved deceased in our hearts. There they live on. In us, their bereaved.
May God protect and comfort you!
With sincere sympathy
Peter

I knew Jimmy from DuPuis Elementary School, Palm Springs Junior High, and HML. When we attended DuPuis, we were always seated next to each other because his last name was Shannon and mine is Shields. I recently thought of Jimmy when I heard that Mike Shannon from the St. Louis Cardinals had passed. I think they were related. I ran into Jimmy several times as adults. May God bless his family and I hope that when I get to Heaven, Jesus will sit us next to each other again. Jimmy, I miss you.
