John Elry Edwards Jr was born June 7th, 1941 in Waycross, Georgia. He was the son of the late Clara George and John Edwards. He attended the public schools of Waycross and graduated from Center High. He then relocated to Miami, Florida with his mother, Clara, and his brother Calvin.
Mr. Edwards then served his country during the Vietnam War in the Air Force with an Honorable discharge at the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSGT) in 1969. His primary role in the military was as a Jet Aircraft Mechanic, he continued his military skill set by working as an Aircraft Mechanic for over 20 years in Miami managing contracts with numerous airlines in the industry.
Having accepted Christ, he united with the Cooper City Church of God as a member. He served many years as an Usher, along with leading many missions and community service initiatives feeding the homeless and helping them seek shelter.
Mr. Edwards was an avid sports enthusiast and an exceptional golfer. If he wasnโt watching his Dallas Cowboys on a Sunday you would have to catch him on the links sharing his love and passion for the sport of Golf. He used it to teach life lessons and pass down wisdom to younger generations.
He entered his eternal rest on Thursday, May 9, 2024, and leaves to mourn and forever cherish his loving memory, a devoted wife: Liza Brown; a daughter Kara Edwards; a son Jonathan Edwards; a granddaughter Savannah Jo-Ann Edwards; and two grandsons Anderson Brooks Edwards & Lincoln Elliott Edwards, several cousins and a host of loving friends.
