John Nathaniel Honeycutt, went home to be with the Lord on August 17, 2021 surrounded by family after his 5 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was 71 years old.
Graduate of Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. Bachelor of Science, Double Majored in Biology and Chemistry.
He was Founder, President, and Owner of Vetbrands International, Inc. Trustee of Bible Baptist Church of Pembroke Pines. President of Homeowners Association of the Sanctuary Homes at Hawk’s Cay Resort. Formerly residing in Cooper City, Florida.
John was born on April 4, 1950 in Del Rio, Texas and was raised in Torreón, Mexico. His family moved back to Texas when he was 12 years old, and he was held back one year in school because he did not speak English. His family ranched in West Texas on 23,040 acres of land. John developed a strong work ethic at a young age. He had to feed the livestock, saddle the horses, and gather wood before school. At school, he played football for his high school team. John graduated high school and went to Sul Ross State University. After graduating college in 1973, he started his career in international sales and marketing working for several large corporations, traveling the world. After a successful career he decided to start his own company, Vetbrands International Inc. on November 13, 1989.
John was an avid sportsman both hunting and fishing in all parts of the world. He really enjoyed South Africa and their safaris, the Zambezi River, Mexico, Texas, and the Florida Keys. On his lighter side he enjoyed cooking, entertaining, and eating with family and friends. John was a gourmet cook and he had the unique ability of tasting foods in other countries and reproducing near recipes that he enjoyed.
Despite his other interests, family was always his first priority. His family was his heart. He loved educating his family, he introduced them to traveling, fishing, cooking, various cuisines, restaurants, theatre, and concerts.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Jean Honeycutt of 36 years, one daughter, Karla Kay Mitchell and spouse Larry Mitchell, five grandchildren Jessica Fiddler, Paul Payne, Joshua Higar, Michelle Barrenechea, and Raquel Cogswell, eight great-grandchildren, one sister, JoeBeth Honeycutt, two nephews, Patrick Herring and Shane Herring.
He was preceded in death by his father John Dillar Honeycutt and mother Martha Joe Lee Honeycutt, one daughter, Diane Barrenechea.
John was a strong, intelligent, self-made man but came to a turning point in his life when he realized he needed Christ. It has been a blessing to us to know he is in Heaven and waiting on us to join him. We look forward to that joyful day.
Please join us to celebrate John’s life on Saturday, August 28th at Bible Baptist Church – 7 SW 129th Ave Pembroke Pines, FL 33027. Viewing is at 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Service is at 12:00 PM. Burial is at 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens – 2401 Davie Road Fort Lauderdale, FL 33317.

I missed the livestreamed services for John at Bible Baptist Church, but did view the complete services for John on u-tube. This includes the impressive slide presentation of John’s life before the services.
I will miss John. I will continue to say prayers for John and his family while he is in the Lord’s hands.
