John Michael Arwood, a devoted husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully in hospice care after bravely facing eight years of health challenges and a recent cancer diagnosis. A resident of Pembroke Pines, John was born in Dalton, Georgia, as the only child of John Henry Arwood and Edna Earl Arwood.
John dedicated his career to law enforcement, serving with honor as a police officer with the Coral Gables Police Department, where he retired as a Sergeant. He continued his service at the University of Miami Police Department, retiring once more after a distinguished career. His commitment to the Fraternal Order of Police was unwavering, serving in various leadership roles and working alongside George Chieffi to establish the Health Trust.
Beyond his dedication to law enforcement, John was an avid cyclist who found joy and freedom on the open road. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by his wife of many years, Noralie Arwood; his children, John Alex Arwood, Kelly Lee Arwood, and Thomas Edward Estes; and his former wife, Nancy Marquis.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Coleen and Robin Brennan; his niece, CiCi Munley; his brother-in-law, Brad Moore; and dear friends, Al and Glenda Underwood, as well as George and Pat Chieffi. Many other cherished family members and friends will remember him fondly and miss him dearly.
John’s legacy of service, friendship, and resilience will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM with Tributes of a Lifetime Service at 5:00 PM at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral care, University Drive Chapel.
