Kai Eugene Larsen, (92) of Hollywood, Florida, passed away on January 15, 2023.
Kai, fondly known as Kai Kai by his grandchildren, was born to the late Max and Dagmar Larsen on
October 25,1930 in Illinois while on a family trip. When he was only days old, he returned to Hollywood
Florida where the family was one of the first Danish immigrants to Hollywood. He attended South
Broward High School and loved playing sports such as football and track. Upon graduation he enlisted in
the Navy where he traveled the world as a diesel mechanic. Upon his honorable discharge from the
Navy, he eventually started his own business: Larsen’s brothers dredging, with his brother Clifford. He
and his brother worked up and down the east coast of Florida developing communities and waterways
until his retirement.
Kai was predeceased by his wonderful wife of 68 years, Audrey O’Hara Larsen.
Kai is survived by his daughter Denise, son in law Richard, and three grandsons Ryan Kai, Donovan
Richard, Brendan O’Hara and sister Anna Berry. His nieces Kaja and family, Raina and family, Katie and
family, Karen and family, and nephew Kurt and family have been a very important part of his retirement
years. He enjoyed every family gathering. He traveled multiple times to Denmark with his wife,
daughter and grandchildren to visit extended family specially enjoying time with his cousin Rigmor and
family: Carsten, Sally, Casper, and Nicklas.
Aside from his love of football, Kai was an avid gardener with the best red tomatoes and green beans!
He could fix anything and create anything from junk. His grandson kept him busy with asking him to
share his skills and knowledge for building decks, fixing cars, band carts from old bedrails, Boy scout
crossover bridge, and many more projects. Kai’s combination of intelligence, humor, problem-solving
skills, work ethic, wisdom and kindness will be truly missed.
Kai’s family will host a funeral service Thursday February 2, 2023 at Boyd- Panciera Family Funeral Care Pembroke Pines

Longo and family will host a Celebration of Life afternoon lunch at her home. In lieu of flowers, please
consider donating to your local rescue animal facility because of Kai’s love to brag about his dogs
through the years.
