Kenneth Arthur Charles

September 22, 1958~May 08, 2025

Kenneth Arthur Charles, 66, passed away on May 8, 2025. He was born on September 22, 1958, in St. John’s, Antigua, to Lorna and Arthur Charles. Ken spent his childhood through his early twenties in Antigua where he was an avid theater performer, showcasing his talent in productions across the Caribbean. He then began his pursuit of higher education at the University of the Virgin Islands in St. Thomas, where he spent two years before moving to Tallahassee, Florida, in the 1980s to continue his studies. He graduated summa cum laude with his MBA from Florida A&M University (FAMU), where he also met his future wife, Michelle.

After completing his studies, Ken and Michelle settled in Pembroke Pines, Florida, where they raised their two daughters.

After becoming a Certified Public Accountant, Ken began his professional career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as a Senior Auditor. He later joined Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, where he worked for 15 years, progressing from Internal Audit Manager to Senior Purchasing Manager. He went on to become Director of Newbuild and Hotel Purchasing at Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), and eventually concluded his career at Lennar as the Head of Technology Sourcing, Procurement and Vendor Management, retiring at the age of 63.

Ken had a deep passion for music, gardening, and traveling, particularly to destinations that were culturally rich or even off the beaten path. He enjoyed documenting his experiences through photography, capturing the essence of the places he visited and his nurturing soul was expressed in the beautiful garden he tenderly cared for. As an audiophile, a lover of high-quality sound, he found immense joy in listening to and dancing to rhythms from around the world, always appreciating the connection music brought to diverse cultures. He also had a special appreciation for scenic drives, often finding joy in the journey itself — a sentiment reflected in one of his favorite quotes: “Life isn’t about the destination, it’s about the journey.”

He will be remembered for his intellect, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his family and career, as well as his quiet strength and thoughtful presence.

Ken is survived by his loving wife, Michelle; his daughters, Karinah and Talia; his mother-in-law, Clemence; his aunts, Lillie and Gloria; his older brothers, Clifford and Donald; his sisters-in-law, Jannette, Gabrielle, and Raphaelle; his nieces and nephews, Nikki, Zalika, Andre, Philippe, Rodney, and Ashley; his Great Nephew, Caiden Arthur; his cousins, Theresa, John, Mary, Robert and their families; and his close friends, Brian, Colin, Pierre-Richard, and Reginald. He is also survived by extended family and many others whose lives he touched.

I worked with Ken in multiple capacities during his time at Royal Caribbean. Ken was a very fine person. Thoughtful, considerate, polite, hard working, eager to assist. All great qualities to be remembered for and qualities all of us appreciate not only in an employee or colleague, but in life. My condolences to his family.

I’ve known Ken for years. He was the quiet one yet a guy full of life, energy and discipline. One of his passion is that he loved music so much especially Caribbean music! And to find his peace he would indulge into planting beautiful and exotic plants and fruit trees. His family was his comfort, his inspiration and his love. Ken my friend it’s not the same without you but l know you’re in a better place. You will be sorely missed. Rest in Piece Brother!!

My dearest Michelle,

I was heartbroken to hear of Ken’s passing, and I want you to know how deeply sorry I am for your loss. I have such fond memories of both of you — I will never forget how awed I was when you once shared your honeymoon pictures with me, especially those breathtaking shots from Tahiti. I’ve now learned that Ken was an avid photographer, which explains how he so beautifully captured the wonder of that place.

Ken was truly a gentleman — kind, gracious, and full of life — and he leaves behind a beautiful legacy in you and your two wonderful daughters. While words can never truly ease the pain of such a loss, please know that you are surrounded by love and support.

I hope you find comfort in the memories of the incredible life you shared, the adventures, the laughter, and the love that will continue to live on in your hearts. Ken may be gone too soon, but his spirit, his talent, and the joy he brought to all who knew him will never be forgotten.

With my deepest sympathy and all my love,

Darline 💕

I met Ken at FAMU during our meeting of the Caribbean Club. To be honest, I was jealous of him when he stole the heart of one of our dearest and beautiful Hatian lady. However, very quickly, I learned to accept him as one of us. He blanded in so easily in our midst as if he was a true Haitian. Thstbguy enjoyed Grio and the Compas music more than most Haitians. He truly loved his girlfriend, Michelle, who quickly became his wife. He epitomized the term Husband and family man. I will definitely miss him.

It is hard to find the words to say goodbye to a friend I have known for over fifty years, from the days of my sojourns in Antigua, staying with my cousins, Brian and Terry Challenger. From those days of our youth, not yet teenagers, through the decades that followed and especially in recent years, Ken Charles was the kind of person that you can never forget. He was the kind of man who never wavered, whose word you could always trust, whose laughter could lift the room.

He was a man who loved deeply and lived fully. He found joy in the journey, in discovery, in the beauty of the world and the people within it. He cherished friendship and never took it for granted. His loyalty was quiet but unshakable. You always knew where you stood with him, and that was a rare gift.

He carried a deep pride in his beloved Antigua country, and an equally deep reverence for the British Virgin Islands where his mother hailed from and where I had the pleasure of his company on several occasionsThat connection to history, heritage, and identity grounded him—and in a way, grounded those of us lucky enough to stand beside him.
Above all, he loved his family – his beloved wife Michelle, his dear daughters, and his brothers – with a devotion that spoke volumes. He was never boastful, but his love was evident—in the way he spoke of them, the way he showed up for them, the way he lived his life with integrity and care.

His passing comes as a profound shock—far too soon, and far too sudden. It is a reminder of life’s fragility and the irreplaceable value of the people who walk beside us through the years.

I mourn his loss deeply, but I carry his memory with gratitude. For the friendship, the laughter, and for the kind, generous man he was. Rest in peace, my dear friend. You will never be forgotten.

Wow! My friend and roommate forever. My deepest condolences from my family to yours. No words can express the feeling that I felt when I learned of Kenneth passing. I hope the family finds comfort in this song. What a day that will be.

There is coming a day
When no heartaches shall come
No more clouds in the sky
No more tears to dim the eye
All is peace forever more
On the happy Golden Shore
What a day glorious day that will be

What a day that will be
When my Jesus I shall see
And I look upon his face
The one who saved me by his grace
And he takes me by the hand
And leads me through the promise land,
What a day glorious day that will be.

No more burdens to bear
No more sickness, no pain
No more parting over there
And forever I will be
With the one who died for me
What a day glorious day that will be.

Dear Michelle, Karinah and Talia,

I still can’t quite believe he’s gone. Ken was such a special person—warm, genuine, and full of life. I’ll always remember his laugh, the way he made people feel at ease, and how much he adored you three. The love you all shared was something beautiful and rare, and it was always so clear how much joy you brought to each other.

I can only imagine the depth of your grief, and I hope you find comfort in the beautiful memories you shared and the love that will always remain among the four of you.

Please know that you are not alone. In your quiet moments, may you feel the support of those who care about you, and in your sorrow, may you find moments of peace and strength. Take all the time you need to grieve, to remember, to just be.

If there’s anything I can do—now or in the weeks to come—please don’t hesitate to reach out.

With my deepest sympathy and love,

“May the Lord bless you with Strength for the battle, Peace for the pressure, Wisdom for the decisions you will face, and Joy for the journey into the future.
