Kenneth William MacLeod

March 08, 1967~January 27, 2026

Kenneth William MacLeod tragically died unexpectedly on January 27, 2026. He was born into a loving family in Hanover, Massachusetts on March 8, 1967, the youngest of five siblings.

Kenny was an avid athlete who enjoyed hockey, soccer and rugby. He played HYAA Youth Hockey, Hanover High School Varsity Hockey and was currently on his local Adult C2 League, Sharkicanes. Kenny also played Varsity Soccer for Hanover High School, continuing to play for the Division III team at Salem State College. Additionally, he played rugby for the Boca Raton RFC.

Upon graduating with a degree in Criminal Justice, Kenny moved to Miami, Florida, where he joined the Miami Beach Police Department in October of 1990 and served proudly for 30 years. Throughout his honorable career his duties included, but were not limited to: Patrol, Bike Patrol, Federal/State Joint Task Force (money laundering), and K-9, additionally assisting with various training assignments.

On January 3, 1992, Kenny was shot multiple times and wounded in the line of duty, receiving the Medal of Valor from  the City of Miami Beach. Kenny retired, along with his adoring partner, K9 Boston in March of 2020, bringing Boston home to join the family. Kenny continued his commitment to service as a Reserve Officer the following month, up until his unfortunate death.

Kenny was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, son, uncle and loyal friend. He often said his life truly began when he married his wife and best friend, Eth. Together, they were able to enjoy domestic and international travel, RV’ing and memorable motorcycle trips with friends and various motorcycle groups. They also participated in and donated to the Tour de Force 9/11 Memorial Bike Ride for several years. Eth lovingly supported his devotion to sports (all things Boston!) and his favorite Indian Challenger motorcycle. Kenny loved attending annual Bike Week in Daytona and Sturgis and was never one to sit idle.

To say Kenny lived each day to the fullest is an understatement. He had no regrets and made friends wherever he went, touching so many lives. Kenny was very solution oriented and would genuinely try to solve any problem presented to him by family and friends. He loved with his whole heart and never took anyone or anything for granted.

Kenny was preceded in death by his adoring parents, William and Marguerite MacLeod. Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife,  Eth Jones MacLeod, daughter Jordan, son Dakota and K9 Boston, as well as his beloved siblings, Daniel (Sherry) MacLeod, James (Terry) MacLeod, Lori (Elvis) Brandon, Michael (Tracey) MacLeod and many precious nieces and nephews.

The Jones MacLeod family would like to genuinely thank the Miami Beach Police Department, Fraternal Order of Police and all of the loving family and friends who have reached out and/or assisted during this difficult time.

Hard to believe our friend Kenny is gone. He was one of a kind — a true biker through and through, and a retired K9 officer who carried the same loyalty and courage into everything he did. Whether it was riding down the highway or swapping stories over a cold one. Kenny had a way of making everyone feel like family.
He loved the freedom of the open road, the rumble of his bike, and the bond of good friends. Though his last ride came too soon, his spirit is still right here with us — in every sunset ride, every laugh we share, and every memory that makes us smile. Ride easy, brother. You’ll always be part of our road.

Kenny was great partner to work with and an even better friend. You couldn’t ask for a more selfless person to assist you with anything work or personal. I have known Kenny for well over thirty years. This is a devastating loss and my heart and prayers go out to his family and many other friends. Kenny was definitely a huge part of many circles of friends and always met you with a smile, and handshake and a hug.

even though his passion was hockey, also loved football.
