Maria Eugenia Figueroa Agosto “Margie”

Maria Eugenia Figueroa Agosto “Margie”, aged 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 12, 2024, in West Palm Beach, Florida. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, she will be greatly missed by all.

Born on May 14, 1944, in Juncos, Puerto Rico, Margie was the first daughter born to Agustin Figueroa Piñeiro and Maria Ines Agosto Algarín. Margie was raised initially in the Bronx, New York, where she would give birth to her first child, daughter Monica Ebeling in 1962. She would return to her homeland of Puerto Rico and give birth to her second Daughter Edilmari Rodriguez Figueroa in 1967, and her son Gerardo Campos Figueroa in 1970.

Margie lived a life dedicated to caring for others. Her tireless advocacy for the homeless and immigrants marked her as a prominent voice for the voiceless, always ready to help those in need, irrespective of their background. She had a boundless love for animals, often taking in and caring for stray cats. She found great joy in gardening and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her sister Carmen Zenaida Figueroa Agosto; children Monica (Angel), Edilmari (Lazaro), and Jerry; grandchildren Alberto, Amanda, and Alix; great-grandchildren Addison, Asaiah, Eleanor, and Sebastian; nephews Billy (Lourdes), Andy (Jessica), and Bobby and their children, and her cats and full time companions Snuggles and Sweetie. Her family will remember her as the loving matriarch who was always there with an open ear, unconditional love, and sound advice. Margie was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Margie’s memory can be made to St. Jude, an organization close to her heart, reflecting her lifelong commitment to helping others. https://tinyurl.com/3nsa6j7z

Margie’s legacy of love, compassion, and advocacy will continue to inspire those who knew her and were touched by her beautiful spirit. A conversation with her would always end with the words of blessing “Que Dios te bendiga y que la Virgen te acompañe”. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all the lives she touched.

My Grandmother is and always will be an amazing soul! She always had time for us and always picked up phone when any of us would call, and you can bet that you never left her house hungry and she always put her family first. She loved animals more than she liked people LOL, but never had had a bad thing to say about anyone and always tried to find the good in people. I know that you will always be looking down on us. You will be forever loved and missed Grams! And I know one day we see each other again! Love Bebo, your grandson.
