“How lucky we were to have someone that makes saying goodbye so hard.”

Marilyn Moore Nelson, of Cooper City, Florida, went home to be with her Lord on March 11, 2018. She was born in the Summer of 1933, the fifth of seven Moore children. She met the love of her life, “Jimmy” when she was eighteen-years-old and they said their vows three years later. They loved, honored, respected, and cherished one another for a beautiful sixty-three years Together they created a family of five, and she turned a house into a home.

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, sister-in-law, and friend. She exemplified the qualities of a Proverbs 31 woman – virtuosity, faithfulness, reverence, strength, endurance, honor, and kindness. She was charitable, well dressed, a wife of a good husband, and a loving mother. She lived her life every day in a way that truly praised and honored God. Marilyn served the Lord faithfully in many different capacities over the years, including as Music Director in six different churches. She was the original “Wedding Singer” – her voice blessed many, many marriages over the years. She worked as a kindergarten teacher, attendance clerk at an elementary school, and retired as the Guidance Secretary at a local high school.

She is survived by her husband James, her three children, Debbie Walker (Ron), Terri Wells (John), and John Nelson (Virginia). She was a grandmother to seven and great-grandmother to six. Marilyn touched many lives over the years not only through her beautiful voice, but through her sweet, kind spirit. She would give the shirt off of her back if she thought you needed it. She never met a stranger she couldn’t strike up a conversation with and everyone who spoke with her received an encouraging word spoken with wisdom and strength and always a touch of humor. She enjoyed people and conversation, but valued most the time she spent with her family.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, University Drive Chapel. Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, March 14, 11:30 a.m. at Gardens Baptist Church, followed by Interment at Vista Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. – Joshua 24:15

Jim . What wonderful memories I have of Marilyn and the love and attention she (and you) gave to all of us teenagers at the most important times of our lives. We were young and impressionable, and what better role models could we have had than you two. Honestly, to this day when I think back on my teenage years in Opa Locka, you and Marilyn are always part of my memories. Johnny, Debbie and Terri – I don’t need to tell you what a wonderful mother she was. My thoughts and tears are with you all. Love Marv
