Marvin E. Purser Jr.
June 19, 1937 – January 17, 2025
Marvin E. Purser Jr., of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 17th of natural causes, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted Christian minister for the first two decades of his professional life, later becoming a dedicated Broward County school teacher for another twenty years. Marvin had a passion for writing and self-published several books of poetry and other topics.
Known for his corny jokes and warm, personable nature, Marvin loved engaging with people from all walks of life. Whether chatting with waitresses, striking up conversations at yard sales, or simply brightening someone’s day, he had a gift for making others feel valued. He also created cherished memories through a wide range of community experiences, from organizing living nativity scenes with real hay and livestock to hosting church carnivals, school events, and other gatherings that brought people together. His creativity and dedication turned these moments into meaningful experiences for his students, church members, and the wider community.
Marvin shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Connie, to whom he was married for 61 years. He is survived by his children, Chris, Steve, and Laura; his grandchildren, Ashli, Brittney, Cameron, Jordan, Olivia, Jacob, Doug and Dru; and his great-grandchildren, Alex and Vanessa. His kindness, humor, and unwavering faith will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
