Maud Content née Salomon was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Monday, September 7, 2020. She was born on November 3, 1939, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to Yvette and Love Leger. When first diagnosed, Maud told her nephew that she had done all she wanted to do in life, therefore, it’s in that knowledge and surrounded by her family and friends’ love that she passed away after a mercifully short battle with cancer. Before immigrating to New York in 1964, Maud proudly worked at the Department of Agriculture. She married Monge Content in 1966, with whom she had four children. Maud was a reflection of her mother’s legacy of caring and welcoming others. In addition to being a dedicated mother, her selflessness extended to her nieces and nephews, who she helped raise. She had a beautiful spirit–opening her heart and home to those who needed assistance. It’s no surprise that Maud earned a nursing degree and worked tirelessly at New York University Hospital for more than 25 years. She later fulfilled her goal of retiring to Florida, where she lived for nearly 20 years. She took pleasure in sports–baseball (Go, Yankees!) and basketball, in particular, going to the casino–online card games and playing the slots, and loved to read and watch movies. She also loved to cook and entertain. She took delight in the small things in life, the nuances of every day that most people take for granted.Maud was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Yvette Salomon, aunts Clercilia Belmont, Constance Vincent, Francesca Azor; her uncles Antoine Salomon, Theodore Belmont, Vitelius Salomon, her sisters Soeurette Blain and Elvita Salomon, and her late husband Monge. Her beloved children and in-laws survive her–Steven Content and wife Sharon, Sandy Content Lamy and husband Eric, Sherwin Content and wife Eleonor, and Sladimir Content and partner Rita, her stepson Monge Content, as does her siblings Gladys Guilloteau Lafond, Ritza and Marilyn Salomon, and Romuald Blanchard. Her spirit and legacy will live on with her grandchildren Stephanie, Steven Elijah, Kyla and Kahlia Content; Madison R. and Morgan Y. Lamy; Elaura and Sean-Alexander Content, and Sladimir Jamal Content, and her great-grandchild Hannah Hutchinson; her nieces and nephews–Rod Pierre Marcel, Nadine Blain Burgos, Natasha Dure, Yemithsu Dure-Sharashenidze, Mackenlee Blain, Brian Cassetana and Neal Cassetana, and their children, as well as her extended family–Mario Salomon, Jean Ernst Darius, Carol Duchatelier, Margareth Mehu, Lyonnette Vincent, Marie Vincent, Addie Vincent, Carmel and Jose Guilloteau, Jean Wilson Mondesir, Natacha Mondesir, Joanna Matthew, Kassandre Monsanto, Ernst, Claudette, Jackson and Frantz Mirville, Marianna Adonis Verna, and Eddy Romain, who was a reliable and supportive “bonus son,” during her time in Florida. Maud’s family and friends will treasure and honor her memory forever.A Public Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, 6400 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, Florida 33024
