Michael Angelo Caruso Sr. (Mike) 83 of Pembroke Pines, Florida passed away peacefully on May 15, 2024.
Michael was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, on December 17, 1940 to Reno Caruso and Margaret Kuzma Nagy.
Survived by his wife of 62 years Dianna Lynne Boyd-Caruso, his daughter Christal Caruso-Hansen, David Sharkey, grandson Nicholas Hansen, granddaughter Alexis Caruso, his cousins Marjie Kuzma Vignjevic, Guy Caruso, Sam Chilia, several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his two sons Michael Angelo Caruso Jr, Jeffrey Allen Caruso, and granddaughter Krystal Leeann Caruso.
Mike grew up in the Ohio valley and attended Catholic school and later moved to Miami with his mother and stepfather (Alex Nagy).
In 1956 he attended Kidlock Middle School. Then continued his education and graduated high school from North Miami Senior High in 1960.
Mike later traveled back to Ohio reconnecting with his roots and while attending a dance party in Wheeling, West Virginia is where he met the love of his life Dianna.
May 31, 1961 Michael joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country. He was an Airman 1st Class assigned to a bomber squadron. While in the Air Force Michael completed vocational education in Airframe and powerplant mechanics.
December 6, 1961 he married Dianna Lynne Boyd of Shadyside Ohio who became the love of his life.
In 1962 Mike and Dianna moved to Savannah Georgia where he was stationed.
On September 13, 1962, Michael Angelo Caruso, Jr., (Mikey) was born. May 28, 1965 he was honorably discharged from the Air Force as Airman One First Class.
After serving in the Air Force, Mike moved his family to Miami and he started working for Southern Bell (Bellsouth). He worked as a cable splicer, then a foreman and worked his way up the ladder as a supervisor. Mike won several awards for perfect attendance at his job. He enjoyed working and providing for his family.
Mike purchased a brand new Ford truck in 1966 that is still in the family. Mike and Dianna welcomed their second son Jeffrey Allen Caruso born on March 20, 1966.
Their third child and only daughter, Christal Caruso Hasen was born on Father’s day June 17, 1972.
Mike retired from BellSouth / ATT in June 1991. After retiring Mike and Dianna traveled around the country in an RV. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family going to car shows, rebuilding his classic truck, doing yard work and having the greenest lawn in the neighborhood.
Mike also enjoyed shooting his guns at the gun range, dining out at different restaurants with friends and spending time with his beloved dogs. His family was his life. He loved his wife more than life itself. His wife and his family were his world. He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. His memories will live on in our hearts.
