Nelly de Pinzón, devoted mother and grandmother, passed away at her residence surrounded by her children on September 6, 2022. She was 90 years old.
Nelly, or Madrecita as she was affectionately called, was born in Puente Nacional, Santander, Colombia colloquially knows as the land where many are born but few are raised. She married the love of her life, Miguel Antonio, when she was 20 years old. They lived in Güepsa and Cali before setting roots in Bogota. They had seven beautiful children, five girls and two boys. Unfortunately, their happiness was cut short when Miguel abruptly died of a heart attack leaving Nelly to raise the children by herself. She dedicated her life to her children, making sure they always had everything they needed. She singlehandedly gave them all a private school education and they graduated with advanced degrees from the top universities in Colombia. She adored and cared for her grandchildren the same way, always planning family road trips and vacations. She loved to cook and host family get-togethers.
Tragedy struck once again when her first born, Miguel Huberty, died. A mother should never have to grieve the loss of a child. Her strength and tenacity carried her through this immense loss. She decided to move to the United States to enjoy her golden years. She settled in Pembroke Pines, FL where she lived out the rest of her life. She was blessed with a long life, full of love and health.
Madrecita is survived by her children: Rocio, Alba Nelly, Fernando, Yolanda and her spouse Guido, Martha and her spouse Eduardo and Maria Victoria; by her grandchildren: Luisa Fernanda, Tatiana, Ximena, Miguel Andres, Laura Juliana, Paula Andrea, Sabrina, Dominique, Guido Andres, Gabriela, Michael, Juan Pablo, and Camila; and by her great-grandchildren Arlo & Isla.
Our Madrecita will be greatly missed.
