Unconditional daughter and heart full of love for her family, Nelly Josefina Ruiz Moreno — beloved mother, grandmother, and treasure of her community — carried the warmth of Maracaibo, Venezuela wherever she went. Her 81 years were a testament to the beauty found in a simple and purposeful life.

Born into a humble home in Maracaibo on September 25, 1944, daughter of Rubia Elena Moreno and Luis Ramón Ruiz, Nelly built a world rich in love and creativity. Her hands were never idle — whether tending her garden, crafting garments as a seamstress, or filling her home with the aromas of meals lovingly cooked for her family. She had a tender heart for animals, especially birds, monkeys, and dogs; and her kitchen was a place of warmth that drew family and community alike.

Nelly found her greatest joy in family. She married Venancio Antonio Fonseca Castillo in 1968, and together they built a close-knit home filled with love, until his sudden passing in 1988. She carried that family forward with quiet strength and unwavering devotion, raising her daughters and pouring herself into the lives of her grandchildren, who were the light of her eyes.

Graceful and generous until the end, Nelly remained the cornerstone of her family through every stage of life. She passed peacefully on February 26, 2026 in Pembroke Pines, Florida, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and home.

Nelly is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Bertila Aracelis Fonseca Ruiz, Rubia Indira Fonseca Ruiz, and Amaloha Chiquinquirá Fonseca Ruiz; Francisco Javier Pulgar Urdaneta, Juan José Gotera Boscan, and César Nava.

Her grandchildren: Valeria Carolina Pulgar Fonseca, Verónica Carolina Gotera Fonseca, Francisco Javier Pulgar Fonseca, Valentina Carolina Nava Fonseca, Julio César Nava Fonseca, and Taijon Jameel Duverger and her Ruiz siblings: Nerva, Nancy, Neida, Luis (†), Armando, and Enzo Ruiz.

A service in her honor will be held on March 26, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM with a Mass at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, 701 N Hiatus Rd, Pembroke Pines, FL 33026, followed by burial at 12:30 PM at Hollywood Memorial Gardens (Magnolia Gardens), 3001 N 72nd Ave, Hollywood, FL 33024.

Hija incondicional y corazón lleno de amor por su familia, Nelly Josefina Ruiz Moreno — amada madre, abuela y tesoro de su comunidad — llevó consigo la calidez de Maracaibo, Venezuela a donde quiera que fue. Sus 81 años fueron un testimonio de la belleza que se encuentra en una vida sencilla y con propósito.

Aunque nació en un hogar humilde en Maracaibo el 25 de Septiembre de 1944, hija de Rubia Elena Moreno y Luis Ramón Ruiz, Nelly construyó un mundo rico en amor y creatividad. Sus manos nunca estuvieron ociosas — ya fuera cuidando su jardín, confeccionando prendas como hábil costurera, o llenando su hogar con los aromas de cocina con amor para su familia. Tenía un corazón tierno por los animales, especialmente los pájaros, monos y perros; y su cocina era un lugar de calidez que atraía tanto a la familia como a la comunidad.

Nelly encontró su mayor alegría en la familia. Se casó con Venancio Antonio Fonseca Castillo en 1968, y juntos construyeron un hogar unido lleno de amor, hasta su repentino fallecimiento en 1988. Ella llevó a esa familia hacia adelante con silenciosa fortaleza y devoción inquebrantable, criando a sus hijas y entregándose a la vida de sus nietos, quienes eran la luz de sus ojos.

Elegante y generosa hasta el final, Nelly se mantuvo como el pilar de su familia en cada etapa de la vida. Partió en paz el 26 de Febrero de 2026 en Pembroke Pines, Florida, dejando atrás un legado de amor, calidez y hogar.

A Nelly le sobreviven sus hijas y sus yernos: Bertila Aracelis Fonseca Ruiz, Rubia Indira Fonseca Ruiz y Amaloha Chiquinquirá Fonseca Ruiz; Francisco Javier Pulgar Urdaneta, Juan José Gotera Boscan y César Nava.
