Patrick Boyd was born on March 14, 1953 to Adonis “Don” & Katherine Boyd. He was the little brother to Larry and they were very close.
He was born and raised in Hollywood, Florida and went to St. Stephen’s Catholic School and graduated from Chaminade High School in 1971. He and his future wife, Caren, lived close to each other and knew a lot of the same people but they didn’t meet until 1979. Fate, had other plans.
Pat grew up in the family business and in 1974 received his funeral director’s license. Patrick worked along side his parents up until their passing.
In 1979, by chance, he met Caren Gorman through one of his coworkers. They fell in love and on September 5, 1981 they married on a lake at sunset. He became a father to her 5 year old son Dustin Cote.
On August 11, 1982 Caren gave birth to their first daughter, Ashley Lauren Boyd and their second daughter Brenna Patricia Boyd was born on March 7, 1984.
Patrick was an amazing father, he was funny and loving but also tried to instill good values in his children. He and Caren loved each other very much and she was his soulmate.
Pat had a special bond with his parents. Don & Kathy Boyd as Patrick grew up they became best of friends.
Patrick worked for the family business for over 40 years, starting out working maintenance at as teen. He loved his career and the families he served. Pat was an active member of his community having been a former Rotarian and member of local Chambers of Commerce as well as many other community and industry associations and organizations. He was also an advocate for funeral service having won several industry awards for excellence. His contribution to funeral service will be sorely missed.
Pat is predeceased by his wife Caren on December 3rd, 2012 just nine days prior. He is also predeceased by his Father Adonis Don Boyd and mother Katherine. Patrick is survived by his daughters Ashley Boyd Juan Cuao and Brenna Branden Boyd-Kania. He is also survived by his son Dustin Cote Joanna. Additionally, Pat also leaves behind five Grandchildren: Christiaan, Brianna, Adrien, Adonis and Gavin and his brother Larry.
Pat will be truly missed by all who were touched by his compassionate and humorous heart.

Pat has a wonderful smile with a chuckle to match. I am sure he is with Caren, Adonis and Katherine laughing right now. He had intelligence, talent and creativity to spare. He will be missed immensely. I send my prayers to their children and grandchildren.

I would like to offer my condolences to the entire Boyd family. I always talked to Larry on the phone about the IFDF contracts, but I had the pleasure of meeting Caren and Pat at the Annual IFDF Conventions. They greeted me and my family with hugs and smiles every year. They will greatly missed!

One of a kind. Family to all of his friends. I remember cruising around in the keys in the Boyd’s boat with Pat, Larry and Don at sunset. Watching the colors change with the sounds of laughter in the air. I miss the Boyd’s and I will miss Caption Pat.

To the BOYD Family,
This comes to you with sympathy especially to say so many warm and caring thoughts are there with YOU today. And may it somehow be a help and comfort just to know how often you’ll be thought of through the days that come and go. What a tragic loss of two loved ones in such a short time.

I was a Memorial Counselor and Manager for 27 years working for Westlawn Memorial Gardens, Hollywood Memorial Gardens and Fred Hunter’s. I worked with Pat on arrangements probably over 400 times and found him to be one of the most comfortable and respected men I have ever had the pleasure of working with. It saddens me very much to know that I will never run in to him when I am in the Hollywood area. God Bless him and his family.

I was shocked when Janel Hess and Paulette Vitale told me the news about Pat and his wife this past weekend. Pat was a classmate of mine at Chaminade and we graduated together in 1971. He was a truly nice man who always had a smile on his face whenever I saw him. Boyd-Panciera was excellent and extremely respectful when the funeral home took care of my father-in-law, Manny Padua, after he passed in October of this year. I didn’t see Pat on this occasion, but Dave and Michael, whom I’ve known for years, were wonderful to our family. They represented Pat and his family admirably. Please accept my deepest and heartfelt condolences for your loss. Pat obviously touched many lives for the positive and will be sorely missed. We can all take comfort in the fact that he is back together with the love of his life, Caren.

Ashley, Brenna, Dustin and all the Boyd Family and Funeral Home Staff,
I am deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Pat and of Caren’s passing just days earlier. Pat was a great boss. We all thought the world of him and will miss him very much. I know this is a difficult time for you, however, if it is any consolation, Pat was very much admired and respected, and I can truly say that I have never heard an unkind word spoken about him.
Please extend my deepest sympathy to your families. May you all find the strength and courage to get through the weeks and months ahead.
My thoughts and prayers will be with you.

Dear Boyd family and staff,
Words can’t express my shock at learning that Patrick died…and that Karen had preceded him by only a few days. I just learned of their passing a few minutes ago. They were great to be around and were such special people. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I was heartsick to learn of Pat’s death only yesterday. We had spent some time on the telephone together in the autumn and was never aware that Karen too, was near end life.
I grieve for his family, whom Pat spoke of with deep admiration. He was such an advocate for his daughter and brother – and I’m sure it pleases him greatly to see them continuing his legacy of service to your community.
Pat was a blast to be together with. We spent several years together in The Leaders Network – and bunked together when we did a retreat at Peaceful Valley in Colorado.
I remember him well too for snow angels he made during a party on the rooftop of a Denver hotel – delighting in the fact that it was simply snowing – and appreciating the foul weather that the rest of us barely tolerate.
That was Pat – appreciating things that so many of us overlook.
And I’ll remember him when it snows – and for the angel he made that night – and for the angel that he now is.
