Peter DiLeo

Peter DiLeo

March 13, 1952~July 31, 2023

Peter Donald DiLeo courageously battled cancer for a year and passed away Monday, July 31, 2023 at 12:40 am; after 71 years of sharing his genuine selfless soul, his profound humor (even to the end) and passionate devotion with his family, friends and everyone who had the opportunity to be touched by his radiant light.

Peter is survived by his one and only love (bordering 41 years) Donna May. A compassionate and committed father of three; Derek, Danielle and Dustin. One precious granddaughter, Siena Mae. He is the beloved son of the late Domenick and Gilda, as well as the late in-laws, Donn and Florence Shelden. Peter remains respected by his two brothers and admired by his sister; along with their families: from Westford, Mass, Anthony and Christine DiLeo, Domenick and Nancy DiLeo from Franklin, Mass and Donna Barker from Lowell, Mass. He is equally treasured
by his aunt Clara and Sal Paratore of Southboro, Mass, aunt Martha and Ronnie of Reading, Mass and aunt Sheila of Wilmington, Mass. His wife’s twin sister Debbie Greenberg of Florida and younger sister Sherry and Bob Malson of Maryland cherished him as well. Peter is loved by his countless number of cousins and extended cousins from Italy that have remained devoted. Peter is the endeared uncle of 13 nieces and nephews, along with their collective 12 children.

Peter graduated from Braintree High School in 1970; as he excelled in sports, track, soccer, hockey and gymnastics where he earned several awards and received a scholarship to attend Northeastern University. He earned many awards and accepted a Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering; as he followed in his late father’s footsteps. Pete attended MIT for his Master’s degree.

He was an extremely brilliant and venturous individual as he went into his first business deal in his early 20s; building a racket ball club in NH. Pete was and remained an extremely conscientious and loyal worker his entire life. His initial job was with Aberthaw Construction, he traveled from Baltimore to DC and lastly to FLA; where he steadfastly met the love of his life, Donna May, firmly by his side. A three-month courtship led to their marriage on September 4, 1982.

Peter aspired in the construction industry from laboring to a multitude of architectural facilities, training numerous colleagues, navigating state to state jobs and owning 3 construction companies.

He was adventurous and high spirited as he exceeded in every activity he came across. He wasn’t afraid to take risks……he welcomed the challenge!!

His greatest endearment were his three children. Peter’s unconditional love never wavered; from relentless trips to the hospital, around the clock care, coaching sports, teaching lifelong lessons as well as determining their best path for success. His commitment and affection extended continuously to family members and friends too.

Peter remained stoic throughout his battle with cancer. He did not allow the disease to define his days, his decisions or himself. The family graciously thanks all friends and relatives for the ongoing prayers, masses and support- not for a cure, but for a life bursting with eternal love that was peacefully answered. A special gratitude is extended to the tireless work of his team at Memorial Regional Oncology Unit. Peter had said in his own words “The team was a Class Act”.
