Peter and I often went on video gaming binges for days on end… we fell asleep in our chairs and when we woke up we went back to our games. His mom and dad generously put up with it and often would go get us food and snacks and sodas. His mom practically had to drag us to the table for dinner. The two of us were smokers at the time and we would go through two, three four packs a day – each – and the room would be so filled with smoke that his dad would come in and say “Holy crap! Open a damned window!” The only time we stopped playing, other than for dinner, was when we would drive to GameStop to buy more games! We were ridiculously silly and didn’t shower during those gaming days and argued over what music to listen to while we gamed and we debated about science and theology and history and books and movies and we had so much dang fun that we didn’t care that we were stinky and disheveled! I’ll never forget those memories with Peter. The last time I saw him was 2008; I got married and moved away, and Peter and I just lost contact. I am heart broken to discover that he is gone. Peter was a “one-of-a-kind” kind of guy. I was honored to know him and to have spent time with him. To his sister, whom I met once or twice during our game binging days, I offer deepest sympathies. Goodbye Peter, ole buddy! I’m definitely going to miss you!
