Rebeca Rodriguez was born to Guillermo Romero and Victoria Mercado on December 20, 1935 in Barranquilla, Colombia. Rebeca was the baby of twelve siblings. Rebeca had four brothers and seven sisters. Rebeca grew up in Barranquilla, Colombia and in 1961 she relocated to Bogota, Colombia where she worked at Banco del Comercio, La Sabana until 1968 when she moved to the United States.
Rebeca traveled to Connecticut to visit her sister, niece and nephew. While visiting, she met the love of her life, Ramon Angel Rodriguez who pre-deceased her in 2004. Rebeca and Ramon Angel married on December 26, 1969. Rebeca and Ramon had two children, a daughter Deyanira and a son Ramon Guillermo who pre-deceased Rebeca in 2024. Rebeca was a homemaker until her children were older.
Ramon and Rebeca lived in Connecticut until 1987 when they decided to relocate to South Florida. Rebeca worked as a pre-school teacher at Miami Shores Community Church until 2000 when she retired. After retiring she continued taking care of her family, and was very involved in helping to care for her only grandson, Adrian J. Aponte. Rebeca was an active participant in her catholic faith, and charismatic prayer group.
Rebeca passed away on March 15, 2025, surrounded by her immediate family and close friends. Rebeca is survived by her daughter Deyanira Aponte, grandson Adrian J. Aponte, son-in-law Martin J. Aponte, and many family members to include her last living sibling Guillermina Romero de Torres, and many nieces and nephews. Rebeca will be missed more than words can ever express. Viewing and service will be held at Boyd Panciera Funeral Home in Pembroke Pines, Florida on Thursday March 20, 2025. She will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery in Doral, Florida on Friday March 21, 2025.

Mi mas sentidas condolencias por el fallecimientp de Rebecca. Ella era una persona bien especial, siempre bien amorosa y sonriendo. En este momento tan dificil mis oraciones estan con Deyanira y el resto de la familia. Que Dios llene de consuelo y fortaleza sus corazones. Mi mas sentido pesame!
