Myron Paul Arthur Vogt, age 74, claimed eternal life with his Heavenly Father on July 5, 2005. Born in West St. Paul, MN on June 20, 1931 to Herman August Vogt and Evelyn nee Krueger, he was baptized on July 12, 1931 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in West St. Paul. He graduated from Concordia College, St. Paul, and then Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO in May, 1956 and was ordained in his first parish, Christ Lutheran Church, Nebraska City, NE on July 15, 1956. On August 19, 1956 he married Lorna Marie Cloeter, his faithful and loving wife, and their marriage was blessed with five sons: Michael Doris, Stephen Andrea, Thomas Julie, Jonathan Elizabeth, and James, as well as six beautiful grandchildren: Whitney, Taylor, Tatyana, Emily, Ethan and Ashley. He is also survived by two brothers, Reverend Gordon Vogt of Minneapolis, and Leon Susan Vogt of West St. Paul. He was preceeded in death by his parents and infant sister, Lona. Pastor Vogt served Lutheran churches in Nebraska, Minnesota and Florida up until the time of his death. He also served as a chaplain at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, FL from 1982 to 1997. A service of praise and thanksgiving for his life will be celebrated at Christ Lutheran Church, Fort Lauderdale, 1955 East Oakland Park Blvd on Friday, July 8. Visitation will be at the church from 10:45 to 11:45 followed by the liturgy of Christian Burial with Holy Communion. Rite of Committal and interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery in West St. Paul, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Christ Lutheran Church or The Mayo Foundation for Cancer Research. Our husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend battled the evil of cancer with patience and calm courage, and accepted his death with dignity and a peaceful spirit. Thanks be to God and our Savior Jesus Christ.

I had the pleasure of meeting Rev. Vogt and his wife at a party a few years ago because of my friendship with his son Stephen. It is clear that he was a good father and fine example for his children to follow. His influence and presence will be missed by all.
