In Loving Memory we share that Shelly, as she was known to family and friends, entered into eternal rest following a recent diagnosis of Alzheimer’s.

Shelly was born in Brooklyn, NY to Shirley and Herman Gessin.

She graduated from Kings County Nursing as a Registered Nurse and in later life she earned a Master’s Degree from Barry University.

Shelly practiced nursing for 35 years while raising her family. Shelly spent her spare time attending workshops studying ceramics and her creations are located through out the house. She lived in New York, Germany, and Florida (Surfside and Hallandale Beach). She traveled to all 50 US States and had extensive trips abroad. Until recently, she was a member for many years of Temple Sinai of North Dade.

Shelly enjoyed bringing family and friends together for any reason. Her greatest joy was taking the grandchildren shopping, to dinner, teaching them to work with ceramics, or having overnight stays.

Always modest, her charitable impacts were extensive and mostly anonymous.

Shelly always kept active whether exercising, going out to shows, dinner, shopping or spending time with her children, grandchildren or friends.

Shelly is survived by her husband Martin Claire, sons Keith Blum, Seth (Barbara) Blum, and Craig (Rhonda) Blum, bonus children Barry (Staci) Claire, Robert (Julie) Claire and Jamie (Al) Abhari, grandchildren Jordan (Rachelle), Chelsea, Andrew (Samantha), Casey, Zachary, Kayla, Lindsey, Ariana, Dylan, Ava, Jonathan, and Sarah and great-grandchildren Lola, Gabi, and Ari Claire. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jack.

The family and close friends will participate in a private Celebration of Life at a future date.

Donations in her memory may be made to Cancer Link, Alzheimer’s Association, or Vitas (Hospice).

Arrangements entrusted to: Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, 1600 N. University Drive, Pembroke Pines, FL 33024.
